I like that consoles force developers to get really efficient with their coding and resource use. But recognise too that there is the law of diminishing returns, so that means more resource in to get smaller increments of performance improvement out. So small teams / one man bands have to move to better hardware to fulfil their vision faster than large production studios.
What's gonna happen if he makes the game for iPad4 specs but there will still be lots of people using their iPad2 or 3? I think with each successive iPad the previous gen iPad will remain in active use longer. I just can't see the vast majority of iPad owners upgrading their iPad annually on an ongoing basis. The Apple worshippers will, but as iPad reaches more people the normal person is going to want a good 3 or 4 years of use out of their purchase, not just one year.
