Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales 9/19 ~ 9/25 (UPD: Media Create numbers)

What a modest opening for Gears 3 in Japan. Really didn't expect more than 20k.

Dark Souls with an amazing first week. I wonder if it can hit half a million (on Ps3) WW opening week.

Nice sales all around.

Who wrote the Japan preview?

source

and maaaaaaaaaan do I get a kick out of the preview or what :D love it..if his intentions were to actually flame bait PS3 users..it has failed miserably..it just gives us great lulz on a weekly basis

and fantastic numbers for Dark souls..I'm very happy :D and Impressive for Gears as well.

and let's not forget SOTC/ICO people! Including the single versions both games sold around 100k...= awesome

He's extrememly biased. Hence why I don't take much of anything he says seriously.

As I said, people don't give Source enough credit.

I'll be lying if I said he isn't biased, he is pretty biased, but he still delivers a weekly preview (and to be honest, he shouldn't, all he gets in return are a bunch of complains and comments), I wonder how many of you get Source's data and work with it and make a preview based only on estimates.

When he is spot on, however, apparently no one read the Japan Preview that week.

OMG, stop it with The_Source bashing, it is getting old, he is still a hard working staff of the site (even if he sometimes breaks Nintendo fan's hearts ) but you people are laughable.
When you overestimate something in the America preview I'll be the first to laugh at you, and The_Source will probably never fall that low.

He does overstimate Nintendo stuff regulary, but hell then don't read the preview, no one forces you to read it, and if you think it is so easy to manage spot on numbers, then you people should do them yourselves.

The Americas preview is completely different to the Japanese one, they're used by numbers from this site. So it's rare they're ever going to be far off. You have no idea how far those numbers could fall anyway, yet you say the source would never fall 'that' low? how low? you don't have any comparison. Any source has been pretty drastically off before. It's not a one off either ..

People shouldn't have to do them themselves, what a stupid thing to say. They're not the analysts, source should try and keep his bias out of his work.

By "that low" I meant that The Source would never go as far as trolling the America's preview, which BTW, analyzed like 3 games, and one of them (Kirby) was very overestimated.

I get the data straight from ioi, and it's prelim data (hence for the inaccuracies) I certainly don't come up with any of the numbers myself so no room for bias.

Source couldn't have any argument against the Americas preview for that reason, unlike japanese preview, where he goes into detail and makes ridiculous comments comparing PS3 and Wii games that are completely not alike. Seriously moreno you have no basis for your argument and no clue what you're talking about, you're just blindly sticking up for source.

How does he get his numbers then? His crystal ball? Most of the complains here are about his lack of accuracy, but his data cannot be perfect either.

My point is, he is bias, but he still doesn't get credit for doing the preview, and if you don't like it, then why even botter reading it?

It's not necessarily just the numbers, it's the text that comes with them.

I think the "Old pack vs. Dark Souls" was indeed a bit too far, but, c'mon, he did state that Dark Souls did well vs. a stablished franchise.

I think his is based on a couple of stores, whereas I get mine directly from ioi. Source has to extrapolate his, meaning he puts his own spin (what he hopes) on the numbers some of the time. Hence being 200% plus off on Gears.

Why should he get credit when he subtly trolls consoles in a sales article??? It's starting to really annoy some people, and saying 'oh well why do you read it then' is just .. no, all members of this site should be able to enjoy reading the articles here, it's not suppose to just cater to Nintendo fans you know?

I like the Japanese preview, as do many others, we just wish bias was left out of it, which source is incapable of.
