Forums - Microsoft - Viva Piata crossed 1 million sold according to VG Chartz.com

Yay Viva Pinata!

And no, coolestguyever, not every game can reach 1 million, Viva Pinata is a really good game. Saved by bundles though. I still need to get it for PC.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

If Viva Pinata can reach 1 million, then shouldn't just about any game be able to reach 1 million?

Why do you say that? It's a fantastic title.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

To be perfectly fair, the game has been heavily bundled by Microsoft in both the US and Europe for quite a while now and wouldn't have sold nearly as many copies without it.

I myself have never played the game so I can't exactly comment on it...

the game isnt being bundled in the US, the platinum hits release is what has helped it here. In europe yes, it was bundled severely and that is where the bulk of the sales went. id say viva broke 500k on its own easily, but not passed 600k.

Still, rare have been hinting at a sequel, id guess a sequel along side the new DS game this year.

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.

If Rare wants to make this game kid-friendly, the thing shouldn't be so bloody difficult. It didn't bother me (I really enjoyed the game and got to ~30th lvl or so) but I can't possibly imagine an eight year old being able to handle anything over 20th level.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

That depends, while I agree that the interface should be vastly streamlined, kids can find enjoyment in doing things us adults might not think about. Like when you or I think progression we have to figure out the tough stuff, but ive seen kids play it in a more mindless fashion and enjoy it well enough.

Not enough to run and beg for it though. A sequel to viva needs a vast amount of improvement, the original was amazing, but online garden building, maybe rip off of animal crossing and create timed events based on the day, holiday themes, larger gardens, that kind of thing.

Great game!
And yes it was bundle in the end (Not US), just like Resistence & Motorstorm.

Carpe Diem!
