Yeah, no. Both MW and Battelfield will perform similar to this. It's selling well because it has mass apealing. People like this kind of games, especially in the US. Add to that the metacritic score, the fact that Gears of War has already stablized itself has a series, and the markting it had, and you have an better answer.

 

And there are some multiplats selling better than exclusives on the PS3. How would you explain that? PS3 fans does not care for they exclusives?

sony release : lbp 2 , killzone 3 , infamous 2, resistance 3 , yakusa 4 , socom 4 , motorstorm game , and another games, do you think every single guy will buy every single exclusive from that list ?  damn,  if they would sell 5 millions copies  for every exclusive they release , hard to imagine that ...


IS any of this necessary?

Microsoft are doing well having 2 franchises hitting 8 mill + sales per game. 

Gears 3 has outdone all reports of what many sites thought the game might do forits opening week. Many reported it would bomb due to stiffer competition this year than for its previous 2 releases. 

Gears 3 is alot better than the first 2 games and deserves the sales its getting. 

Can we get the thread back on topic? 

Instead of crappy stealth comments of insecure fanboys? 

I'm a fanboy, but dont stealth post peoples threads.  make a thread myself to make my own point if its off topic or disruptive for no reason.

OT:

most people who say "grow up kid" are people who have to do this for themselve...

it just doesn't make sense to mention motorstorm, lbp, resistance aso. because they don't steal sales from each other. resistance doesn't sell worse because there is a motorsorm or yakuza. that makes absolutely no sense... maybe they steal 5-10 percent of each other never more

btw. with this logic, they would all steal sales of multiplats on the ps3 as well so why do they still sell better like lurkerwithnosous mentioned? or do they only steal them of exclusives? think about it :)

All values are not in fact constant. Exclusive titles carry much more weight early in a generation then they do later in a generation. Microsoft had more exclusives when it mattered, and that is a major reason why the 360 has had more sales then the PS3 in the market. The point is this consumers generally do not care today. Whether the game that is on the shelf is exclusive to their platform or not. They will buy the same number of games even if the proportion is heavily in favor of multiple platform games.

Gears of War 3 is actually performing as would be expected, and you need look no further then the fact that is is the premier fall shooter on the 360. Which always sees disproportionate sales. Every year the 360 has some game that simply prints money, and this year it is Gears. This happened when the 360 had a shit load of exclusives. So if that is your theory your simply clueless. Gears is probably going to end up selling over ten million units in its lifetime. So it goes without saying you should expect to see a third to half of those sales in the first week or two on the market.

Before anyone says oh well that is opinion. No it is just a good rule of thumb for sales. A third to a half up front is just the way almost every single game works out. Unless a bigger title stifles the sales at launch time. Seriously is it something like the charts have a communicable disease. Why not use them to get some insight.

I know games were been released. But see, i believe if those games were been released on the Xbox 360, Gears sales would not be affected (actually, i think they could even rise, since more gamers would buy an Xbox for those games).

But that's not something you see exclusively on the xbox. You will see the same effect in Fifa 12, MW3 and Battlefield on the PS3. No matter how many good games have been released this year, those games can still sell abnormaly well on the PS3 alone.
