I've just finished compiling data for this holiday, according to VGChartz.com. I will continue to add to this data if and when it is corrected, and as further data is added.
These are software totals for each platform; these totals are worldwide. I repeat -- these are worldwide total software sales. I began calculating on November 3rd, because that represents almost exactly two months, because that's about when the holiday season begins, and because Ioi began putting together worldwide software totals at about that time. Here are the totals thus far, from November 3rd, 2007:
Nintendo Wii: 30,451,000
Microsoft Xbox 360: 25,781,000
Sony Playstation 3: 13,755,000
Several things of note here:
1) The 360 has outsold Wii software in America alone in this time frame. This is expected, because there are more 360s than Wiis in America. The Wii makes up the difference (and then some) in Europe and Japan, which is also expected, since there are more Wiis in Jap/EU than there are 360s.
2) PS3 is at around 50 percent software sales of the 360, and around 1/3 the software sales of the Wii. This is also approximately as expected, as this is almost directly proportional with current install bases.
3) The Wii, 360, and PS3 all have their "bundled" games included.
4) This is a LOT of software. Without doing the math, it appears that the last two months have seen as much software sold as 5-6 months from January-August.
I'll aggregate DS and PSP software totals as well, shortly.
