Forums - Microsoft - Kinect headtracking in Forza 4 gives slight edge

MSXBOXWORLD

According to our interview with Turn 10's Brian Ekburg, he claims that gamers who use the Kinect based head tracking will have a slight edge over those players who do not.

He also says that head tracking seems a bit awkward at first, but then after a few laps becomes more natural because grand gestures are not required to look in corners and see the cars around you.

This must be a first for Kinect gaming where the inclusion of the often cumbersome functionality actually improves the gameplay.

Head tracking does seem like a really awesome feature. Hopefully I will eventually get Kinect so I can use it for cool stuff like this.

Hmm in my experience it's an interesting novelty but makes it harder to take corners. A stable viewpoint is much better for taking the best line through a corner.
Of course if you're into driving other people off the road then it could give you an edge.

So it's kind of useless than?

People in real life tend to look around a corner when making said turn..........so naturally this would enhance the sim experience

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It is unnatural since the tv obviously stays in the same place. I would like to try it with a VR headset, that should work a lot better.

It's hard to describe, but if you've ever ridden a bicycle whith a loose seat that swivels, that's kinda the way it screws with you when turning corners.

It is even worse when the game automatically does it for you. I could not get used to taking corners in in car view in TDU2.

Hopefully you can also set it up to work with just changing your view point and disable rotation. Leaning left / right to check side mirrors, forward / back / sit up a bit straighter to peer over a hill all comes naturally while you're playing a racing game. That won't screw with your sense of direction.

its also pretty old tech
