Forums - Gaming - Xbox Live coming to Windows 8 Microsoft, announces cross-device support

Joystiq

As part of Microsoft's continuing effort to provide its users one all-encompassing ecosystem for all of their entertainment needs (or something), the company has announced that its latest operating system, Windows 8, will support Xbox Live. Exact details on integration are forthcoming, but the biggest question that surfaces in our is: What does this mean for Games for Windows Live?

We've got some questions in to Microsoft and will update as soon as we can. [Update: A Microsoft spokesperson tells us "we currently have nothing to announce beyond the statement that Major Nelson posted on his blog."] In the meanwhile, how about some tentative rejoicing?

Around the Network

Well MS is going to go cloud, but first will be building its universal service and they need to build a competitor to steam on pc. Problem i see if that no one will pay for this service on pc when there are many free alternatives. And how would they justicify charging the 360 people when pc get it for free, but then they cant charge the PC people because majority of the content they offer is either free or cheaply available few short clicks away.

Also the windows phone for PC, i dont know. Windows 7 is fantastic i dont see the need to radically change the famous UI.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

sounds good.

they will some HW atleast in the handheld and tablet devices area to build an ecosystem

APPLE and SONY have those in place

though everybody already knew about this coming up
