In a famous letter to Jacques Hadamard, Einstein described the important role of the visual in his own extremely abstract thinking: “The words of the language, as they are written and spoken, do not seem to play any role in my mechanism of thought. The psychical entities which seem to serve as elements in thought are certain signs and more or less clear images which can be volutarily reproduced or combined…. The above mentioned elements are, in my case, of visual and some muscular type…”

Einstein himself didn't think any words, ergo it's possible to formulate very complicated ideas without any words.

I think that's proof enough. I don't see any proof from you that you must absolutely use words to think. As I said, there's no need to continue this conversation if you don't believe what I tell you about myself, I find it really irritating.

Next time you try to pull a fast quote and retreat on me:

1- Make sure it's not from one of my idols whom I'm very familiar with

2- That you provide the WHOLE QUOTE

"The words or the language, as they are written or spoken, do not seem to play any role in my mechanism of thought. The psychical entities which seem to serve as elements in thought are certain signs and more or less clear images which can be 'voluntarily' reproduced and combined. .... This combinatory play seems to be the essential feature in productive thought before there is any connection with logical construction in words or other kinds of signs which can be communicated to others". Albert Einstein in a letter to Jacques Hadamard.

I think my argument here is done... it's been a while since I've "owned" someone in an argument. I think I'm gonna have a good sleep tonight

Sigh, dude. Reread it.

What he means is that he thinks abstractly and the produces words when he actually needs to speak.

Sleep well.

If there's one thing I'm sure of, all styles of thinking play a role in discovery. And even though some may me be more advanced in different areas of thinking, that never means it will completely eliminate another process of thinking.

Whisperer, I'm sorry I came off as arrogant and aggravating, but as a future educator in the field of science. I'm very passionate about thought and learning processes. So when someone tells me they don't use words to think, I can't easily swallow that statement and move on. My passion for teaching does not allow me to simply believe that.

Good night sir.

Yep, he thinks up words ...

And if it didn't mean that much, why not include it in your original post?

Let it go dude.

Yep, he thinks up words ...

Cool. Ignore the quote now.

Some more:

"The above mentioned elements are, in my case, of visual and some of muscular type. Conventional words or other signs have to be sought for laboriously only in a secondary stage, when the mentioned associative play is sufficiently established and can be reproduced at will."

Seriously, you're embarrasing yourself now.

Let me be, I know how I think.

You said you had owned me, now you can sleep well.

But I'm not denying he could abstractly think. He eventually had to use words to provide his results. A point I made at least a dozen posts ago.Why is this so hard for you to accept!?

If anyone embarrassed themselves, it's you.

Mostly English, sometimes Spanglish.

What's Spanglish?

Haha, sentences that begin in English or Spanish but the last or few words end in the other language.

Jesus Christ dude. He had to think in words to communicate. He used his abstract ideas with himself. Can't you read?

Of course I can think words and I can talk to others, geez. I need to use words to provide my results to others, duh. I never denied that.

haha, chill whisperer. No need to end this with insults. That's usually a sign of losing a debate.

The last few posts, you've been back peddling through points I've already made. No need to state them, but I'm glad I educated you some.

This argument is over.

@OP
Despite knowing 3 languages myself, I think 99% of the time in English.
