The Last Guardian, Team ICO’s long-awaited foray into PlayStation 3, will not be at the Tokyo Game Show this year. SCEA associate product marketing manager Brian Dunn confirmed the game’s absence on the PlayStation Blog today. 

“We wanted to confirm that The Last Guardian is not on the schedule for this year’s Tokyo Game Show,” said Dunn. “However we can assure you that Ueda-san and the rest of the development team are hard at work to bring his lofty vision to life and deliver the very best gaming experience possible.”

In the meantime, there’s always The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection, set for release later this month. Sony shared the final outer and inner packaging for the title today.

Why show it off, honestly? It's a game that is going to be loved and have tons of accolades on brand quality. I would rather not see an ounce of it and just have it hit the shelves.

that's not how you sell a game. Yes, if everyone that bought SoTC bought the Last Guardian it would sell 1 million. But a lot of people consumers have a short memory.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

I understand that's not how you sell a game, but if you're expecting huge numbers for this game regardless I think you're missing the boat.  This is the type of game that fans will rant and rave about and will get released more under the radar then expected and the proof of it's quality and caliber will sell.  Not a mainstream hype event.

It's not so much that I want more media of it... but I'd definitely appreciate more news about it. Something like the development progress or a release date announcement is what I'm more interested in.

Admittedly, it's a little concerning that they haven't even showed more snippets of the game just to let you know that it is actually still coming and all is going well.  Then again,  it just depends on how they want to present the game.  I would prefer it gets released totally under the radar and gets stellar reviews and feedback.
