Ive watched the trailer myself and as a Black dude I didnt find anything offensive about it... I think its more offending that shes called trash lady...

if you go to the South thats how most people( not just blacks) speak

Being from the deep south, I can tell you that no one currently uses the dialect that Letitia uses. Saying that any American speaks like this character is like saying there are still Americans that use Elizabethan English in 2011. It's not racist it's just ignorant.

Well of Course its Ignorant, most Black video game Chracters are portrayed in bad style or stereotype's ...I Mean Ralus from FF12 is the only Black character off the top of my head that had non stereotype backround. What Im saying is I seriously dont they are intending to be racist or purposely ignorant. This Dialect still exist .. not as bad as it use to.

Alyx Vance and her dad from Half-life 2 are two of the best in regards to breaking stereotypes .

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

I'm sure somewhere, people talk like this, and the only thing that could be considered racist for me, is the fact she's called a trash lady

You would have to go back in time to find someone who talked like Letitia because she's using a dead speech pattern. Don't see how her being a trash lady could indicate racism.

One of my favorite quotes from Robot Chicken: "Every black man on TV gots to be a posamative role model?"

she sound like black people used to sound like in the old movies during the 60s and older, which at the time was meant to imply that a black person was inferior to the whites, I think that's what the big deal is

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Pretty much. Kasz posted a youtube example in one of the earlier pages.

I love that show. And not every black person in media has to have a positive image, but Letitia is just outdated. None of the black gang members, or other homeless black people talk like her, so it just makes her seem really out of place. Every time I paid her for information, I kept expecting her to break out into a soft shoe dance routine as thanks.

Maybe they're gearing up for a video game version of Going to Heaven on a Mule ...

I would like to see them to an in-depth analysis on Augustus "Cole Train" Cole when Gears 3 gets released.

Anything less and I'll accuse them of being biased towards MS

Ah yes Al Jolson. Fighting for racial equality by appealing to white bigotry and introducing black music and dance since the 1900s.

For what it's worth too... it's not a "Sign of the times" that people find this racist.

In 1993, a video game got discontinued because characters talked like this in them. (via text of course.)

What's ironic about it is that in that case it actually made sense.

Since it was an educational game about being an escaped slave headed to the north.

Was a "hardcore" game too... I was the only one I knew who was able to beat it.
