Forums - Gaming - Bayonetta 2 May Be Announced This Week

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-30-bayonetta-2-reveal-this-week

Platinum Games could be about to go public with a follow-up to its acclaimed action title Bayonetta, judging by a Tweet from director Hideki Kamiya.

In response to a question from a follower as to when a sequel might be announced, Kamiya replied "This week... in a game magazine...", according to Andriasang's translation.

Of course, he could be pulling our legs, but with Tokyo Game Show kicking off in just over a fortnight, that timing doesn't sound too far-fetched.

This isn't the first we've head of a Bayonetta sequel. Last October, Platinum founder Atsushi Inaba said "We would love to make a sequel to it when the time is right". A month prior to that, when asked whether we could expect more from the franchise, Kamiya said "I believe so".

We've asked Sega for comment, and will update if a confession is forthcoming.

SEGA needs to announce Resonance of Fate 2 first.

In an effort to dig up Bayonetta 2 meltdowns, i found this. Now I shall bump it to demonstrate just how little people cared about Bayonetta before it was announced Wii U exclusive

The meltdowns are very exaggerated honestly. Yes lots of people were bitter about it being exclusive to Nintendo, but it was no where near FF13 meltdowns. Not even 1/10 of FF13 meltdowns.

Most people still don't care.  You had a small yet vocal group that was really upset, then you had a much larger group that was more upset because they felt something was being taken away from them, kind of like how a child will cry when adult gives one of their toys to another child, even if they had no interest in that toy.

Overall, though, most people shrugged or said "that's too bad" and went on with their life.  I saw more "OMG PEOPLE ARE GOING INSANE ABOUT BAYONETTA 2" threads than I actually saw people going insane about Bayonetta 2.

I wouldn't say "exaggerated," though i agree they pale in comparison to FF13. Someone in the "great internet meltdowns thread" wanted to see the Bayonetta 2 stuff, so i've started prowling (Google because the site's own search engine is patently worthless). I'm just amused that the amount of people caring went up exponentially compared to the anemic response to this thread from two and a half years ago.

Which is to be expected, FF is a huge franchise and Bayonetta was 1 decently successful game that a few hardcore gamers cared about

The only thing left is fight for who had the best meltdown.

Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo?

Pokoko said it perfectly "kind of like how a child will cry when adult gives one of their toys to another child, even if they had no interest in that toy" Anyway a rumor about an announcement is hardly as interesting as a previously multiplatform game going exclusive to a console which didn't even have the first game. It's true though I bet a lot of the people that were pissed never even liked or played Bayonetta, they were just bitter about it going to Nintendo.

All true. I saw the venom, the fans frothing at the mouth. Although I imagine the true Bayonetta fans were ecstatic at the news. Most of the burning hatred came from people who like to characterize Sony and Microsoft as companies with fans worthy of such a game, and Nintendo as a company with fans undeserving of such a "hardcore" title.
