New bundle deals and one of its strongest Q4 line-ups will make Xbox 360 the best selling console in Europe, Microsoft told MCV.

The firm has dismissed the need to follow Nintendo and Sony by reducing Xbox 360’s price or developing new-look hardware. The platform holder says its line-up of games – including Gears of War 3, Forza 4 and Halo: Anniversary – will realise its dream of being No.1 across Europe

“We certainly think the line-up is strong, and we will continue to partner and work with key retailers across Europe to drive the right value for the right package for the right time,” Robin Burrowes, Xbox LIVE marketing manager for EMEA, told MCV.

“We have done that historically, where we do a number of bundles and deals. Those sort of bundles and deals will be part of how we get to that No.1 position.

“We are also pretty bullish about getting to that No.1 position on the strength of our blockbuster games, with things we are launching like Gears and Forza.“

And we are working really closely with a number of third-party publishers on games such as Modern Warfare 3, FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3. These big, big titles are coming in the next few months. There’s certainly going to be a lot of attention in that traditional space.

“Then we look at the second wave of Kinect titles, like Kinect Sports 2 and Dance Central 2.

“Selfishly from an Xbox Live point of view, a lot of those Kinect games have far better Xbox Live capabilities. It all gives us a strong sense of confidence that we can get to that No.1 position.”

I don't know what MS have up their sleeve, but they seem confident to take the No.1 spot. IMO that's going to be hard without a cut but we'll see what they have prepared.

Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if a price cut was coming after all, that would help them a lot towards that goal.

Indeed, they won't shut up about it, just want them to hurry up and show their hand. Where does it say in the article no price cut btw?

Europe needs a price cut before they can even think about taking 1st there.

Gears, forza, dance central 2 and kinect sports 2 isnt really the way to be number one, so i guess they must be hiding something, or they are getting to arrogant thinking people will just buy it no matter what

I'm guessing they asked that and what they received was the typical response of 'no, we don't need it, we're supercool as we are' and those are MS's coments.

I don't think that's the case, not with Europe anyway. This years line up ... really isn't vastly different from last years, and Kinect hasn't been a huge hit in the majority of Europe.

In another article MS said they're spending a siginificant amount on advertising. I would say this in every Euro country (specific, targetted marketing), along with a price cut, will help boost sales YoY. But PS3 was a tough competitor there anyway, let alone with a price cut.

The only direct quote I've seen is, 'no, we have no plans to announce a price cut'

They basically have been giving away the 360 for years oh wait they do give it away with PC purchase now.

I got an arcade model for 199 two years ago which came with 1 year subscription to XBL MW2 and Forza 3 and Walmart gave me a $50 credit.

Gotta give MS credit they market well and have the best bundles and deals. PS3 exclusives get like no pre order credit from Amazon and they GOW3/HAlO Reach has had a $20 credit for over a year. Every xmas 360 has the most ridiculous bundles. Sony does not.

I don't think 360 can win worldwide but price drop or not PS3 aint winning NA
