Forums - Gaming - BF3 NO ONE HIT BODY KILLS WITH SNIPERS, MORE WEAPON RECOIL, AND MORE – DICE TALKS GUNS

is not having 1 hit snipers for body shots a good idea

Yes 34 69.39%

No 15 30.61%

Total:49

I think some of you are missing the point.

What is being referred to is the bs situation when a sniper runs up on you in close range and just fires from the hip and happens to get a one shot kill where you normally have a chance with any other soldier.

I don't think they mean a normal sniper higher upper body/head shot from shotgun etc won't result in obvious quick kills.

As long as other weapons aren't more effective, I'm fine with this. Until I can see a guy who can take any shot to chest and continue fighting, I'm not complaining. Point is, I don't see how sniper rifles are supposed to be magically more effective than other weapons if you hit chest for example. Besides, at least BC2 has too many snipers already, don't really know about BF2 though.

wht about larger caliber rounds? i'm not sure this game accounts for that.

there are no 1 hit body kills with sniper rifles. Pull your side arm or use a semi auto for fast follow up hits.

SIDE ARM or SEMI AUTO after hitting with a... SNIPER? LOL

This is to stop close range quickscoping, which is retarded.  Close range you can use a pistol fine.

I have to agree, quickscoping shouldn't be in any FPS game or at least in any FPS game that strives to be "real life".

can't quick scope in Killzone. Dice should just optimise the the game for quick scoping instead of making the sniper less effective.

with every class of weapon in real life it takes a sertant amount of time to set your sights before firing, so dice should optimise the sniper to fit that time frame.

Quick-scoping fails, so this is a good thing in my books

Head shot should be an instant kill.
Body shots should push you on your ass and have you bleed out
A hit in a limb should blow it off :P

Lets make the game realistic

A super-realistic war game might be interesting xD

You only get one life and when you die the game is over.

(I'm not talking about game modes like Search & Destroy where you come back the next round.  I'm talking about the game is over and you can never play that game again!)

Can you honestly argue that the power is justified when the difficulties are nullified. Long range shooting is plagued by variables in real life, and games typically do a poor job of replicating all of those factors. While it is true a Sniper shot should be incredibly effective. What is also true is they should be incredibly difficult to pull off. Since designers have yet to encapsulate all of these challenges into their games. The most logical compromise is to reduce the size of the kill box to require more skill, and much more patience on the part of the player. While the technical capacity is being downgraded they are doing a better job of mimicking the experience.

That should be what people are taking away from these comments. They are going away from hitting the broad side of a barn to hitting a glass bottle on a fence line. Maybe I am confused, but shouldn't sniping in real life or in a game be about. Victory through pure marksmanship. It should take skill, time, and patience. Especially since the guy taking the shot rarely has to contend with taking fire.

I also think this should cut down on swivel. A sniper shouldn't be sweeping the battlefield. They should be working the target not taking pot shots as they scroll back and forth across the map. This will compel more honest play. Pin down the enemy, counter snipe, or set up kill zones that you have scoped in. Sniping shouldn't just be a game about reflexes. It should be a mental game about out thinking their adversary. Not chasing some movement they saw.

I would have to say as far as online goes sniping pisses me off. For whatever reason it is treated far too generously for my taste. Nothing disgusts me more then seeing a guy with a sniper rifle. Taking shots while jumping in mid air, or taking pristine shots while he is running. I almost fume when someone kills me with a sniper rifle at point blank range. The reason is rather simple. This shit should in no way be fucking possible. So no I don't have a lot of real sympathy when it comes to muzzle velocity, or the size of the caliber.

Good for them making the Sniper play honest.

i agree with 99.9% of you post but this does not make the sniper honest.

Maybe... But just maybe. I have a strong dislike for campers who sit away from the action and get kills without even aiming for a weak spot.
