Seriously a sports franchise is one thing, but to own the rights to the countries military. How in the hell is that legal, that gives EA a total monopoly over military first person shooters. Monopolies aren't legal, what if Paramount wanted the rights to the US military in film, would it be legal to give them the rights to the entire countries military?
Its a violation of freedom of speech in a way. Any company should have the rights to produce content about their countries military. Its absurd that all the rights are going to a single company. This wouldn't be allowed in the film or music industry. What if Tom Clancy had the exclusive rights to the US military for books.
I mean where does it end, where do you draw the line. Should EA be able to own the rights to a national institution?
Activision should challenge this in court something I hope they do. This is lunacy. EA shouldn't be allowed to own the rights to a national institution.
So what now nobody can create history games involving the US military? Nobody can create future games involving the military. EA has the exclusive rights to a countries entire history. WTF this is so wrong.
We should start a petition.
Don't believe that EA got the rights to the entire US military (Source)
Is this legal? Should it be legal? Should we start a petition? What happened to freedom of expression and freedom of speech?
