Forums - Gaming - EA: "Call of Duty will die in 2-3 years"

Meh, Uncharted 3 is going to be better than both those games anyway....I'm still picking up BF3 though, words can't describe the amount of hatred I have for COD ever since MW2. I don't hate the franchise because it makes a crap load of cash each year, I just hate the crappy treatment the PS3 versions of the games get, so that franchise is s#!t to me now.

You are thinking about Black Ops. MW2 port for the ps3 ran buttery smooth. And yes Uncharted 3 is going to be just brilliant.

A question for people who say it adds little to nothing every year or whatever. What do you want to see. There are pretty much 4 modes in these games anyways. Single player, Spec Ops, Spec Ops Survival (new) and one of the best (imo) arena shooter multiplayer on the consoles.

I hope so....Call of Duty is just holding the Video Game Industry back with its yearly rehashes!!

Exactly this.

Can you actually come up with a sound argument as to how it's holding the industry back? Actually it goes someway to propping it up ..

Yearly releases with little improvement from it's predecesesors is rather simply put, bad.

what if there is not much to improve upon??

So, there is both the new Survival Spec Ops mode, and another one like the one in MW2?  I thought Spec Ops was supposed to be just the Survival mode this time around.

im just saying what could be improved in COD?? Without turning into something else, because IMHO, as it is right now its probably gonna be good as its gonna get. The graphics cant be improved that much, until the next batch of consoles come out. and the online will never be perfect either, but its pretty close

What the Call of Duty franchise looks like it does each year is add another mode to it, or feature set.  Black Ops added a number of things, including bots.  This time around, they are adding a Horde mode to the game.  I am curious what EA is doing with Battlefield 3, outside of trying to up the graphics, and building damage effects.

Uhhh what? The graphics for one can be improved upon IMMENSLY. Furthermore, they can easily improve game mechanics and what not, maybe look at their competitors or simply use more game modes.

at this point EA are annoying the *&$^# out of me..might just buy MW3 before BF3 now..this is getting truly pathetic and I don't even like COD (this gen bar COD4) much

I am close to this point now, if not there earlier.   It is now trendy to bash the Call of Duty franchise for now reason, and EA to pile on top, as it being a winner take all thing, when I have yet to see any reason why someone would want to own both.  If there was a reason to own both, that means EA is doing something different with Battlefield 3 over MW3.  But now, say that Call of Duty will die in 2-3 years?  That is "the market isn't big enough for the both of us" talk, which more likely than not means "the market is not big enough for any of us", than one title will switch from one franchise to another one.  And, here is another kicker, the sales haven't come in yet.

For me, the Survival mode is my main interest in MW3, so I need a reason for BF3, and I don't see EA giving me any.

how about you both stfu and die?
