Well MS gets some credit for Gears they helped fund it so that's another one for them. And you don't have to be so defensive of Sony man I really enjoy their games and buy every 1st party game on day 1. It doesn't change the fact this year Sony 1st party is not doing very well at all. Socom, LBP2, and now Infamous have all posted low numbers. The game is only 10 weeks old and only did 15k WW. That is poor. KZ3 even has only been a moderate success. Sony quite simply has too many 1st party games releasing and its splitting their demographic of hardcore supporters. Its hard to generate a ton of hype around them because theres so many different ones. Your about to see the same thing with Resistance. A poor performance, and you would've from Twisted Metal as well had it not been delayed. Uncharted will probably be the only game from Sony 1st party this year to outsell its predecessor by a good amount. Which again sucks because Sony's 1st party games have all ben excellent this year besides Socom.

I really wouldn't advise CGI on not being defensive about Sony, that's just his thing. Anyway I agree, Infamous has kinda dropped off the map.

OT: Reach is doing really well!

I think any and everyone that has a preference (which would be everyone) can be a little defensive from time-to-time (you've been yourself as well, before). Since this wasn't one of those instances from either end, anyone reasonable can look past that and at the argument at hand.

Yeah from time to time, with you it's constantly I'm afraid. Just my opinion though, as you so often point out!

Next week is the only chance for the other consoles to grab the lead from the PS3 in the short term.
Then the price cut will kick in and PS3 will remain on top until a possible 360 price cut...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

SEECE arguing that others have baise inpite of his history of snide comments and ad hominime deployed in trashing certain IP's and systems. The word that first comes to mind is a form of  Hypocrisy.

Just my opinion though. . .

Here's a bit of history on SEECE concerning his nonsense argument that InFamous would not crack 1 million.

Even still thats a poor performance, even if it is available online. If this game doesn't clear more than 2 million that's honestly sad. I don't know what it is about Sony but they just can't create mega selling franchises really outside of Gran Turismo. Which is unfortunate because Infamous really is a fantastic new IP.

Nothing suggests right now that it won't clear 2 million units. I also can't call it a "poor" performance without the expectations laid on the table. From where I'm sitting, the DD sales + the retail sales probably have it well over where inFAMOUS 1 was in the same time frame. Never mind the fact that somehow, Sony saw fit enough to acquire the studio behind the IP.

Also, you say "you don't know what it is about Sony" that they haven't created another mega-hit like GT. Last I checked, only Nintendo has created multiple mega hits like that. Microsoft hasn't created another Halo, have they? No. Reason: not every franchise can/will sell like that. Nintendo's appeal to a wider demographic than most PlayStation or Xbox IPs. Gran Turismo and Halo appeal to more people than most IPs. Just the way it is. Not a Sony-centric thing (and most of their IPs are successful anyway - so all else is irrelevant).

In short, inFAMOUS 2 is and will be fine.

1.5 if not 2m by the end of the yr!?

Maybe a little closer to 1.3mill. It should get a moderate holiday boost, but I'm not expecting anything Earth-shattering. Like inFAMOUS 1, it should sell 2 million units (give or take 100-200k) in it's lifetime, but maybe a bit more.

yea i was taking a leapof faith with the .5. i'm thinking more 1.250.

when yoou go for grov you go big! as i always do.

That's a huge jump for the 3DS in Japan! Looks like the price cut is starting to do it's job.

Donkey Kong Country Returns will cross the 5million mark in 2-3 weeks! Well deserved!

Wait, what? I thought it was outselling GT5 by a lot! I remember a thread predicting DKR will outsell GT5 unless the latter gets heavy bundling, so I assumed it was doing better. Anyway, great sales for both titles.

Almost a statistical tie. Same thing the last 8 weeks with little change, will bemore interesting after the PS3 price drop has taken effect.

The 360 should have a price cut soon in the next month with the launch of Gears3.

Anyway the situation on the Wii for the rest of the year is critical.

Most of the games released this year have reasons for posting 'disappointing numbers'

SOCOM 4: It was a bad game

inFamous: It was seen as a stepdown by critics. Some felt it was better, but the majority thought it was an inferior product. Even some users on here thought it was worse than the first one with some labeling it too much like a movie instead of a comic book. Even with all that, this may be tracking above inFamous 1 with DD.

Killzone 3: I and nearly most other hardcore KZ2 felt this game was disappointing. The game managed to attact a lot of new customers, but a lot of the core skipped on the game, which is understandable. If KZ3 had satisfied the core, then it would have a lot more sales. Remember the PSN outage? KZ3's legs plummeted during then and they never recovered. If PSN never went down, KZ3 total sales would be higher, not much, maybe 100k at the most. Even with all that, the game is practically on par with KZ2 in terms of sales. It will pass KZ2 in a few weeks.

LBP2: I'll give you this one. The game won't reach LB1 sales. I can blame this on LBP1's heavy bundling and holiday release. A few weeks ago, LBP1 actually outsold LBP2. That was pretty weird. I guess people don't see LBP2 as being a big enough improvement over the first. I don't know. If it has legs & bundles like LBP1, then it should reach 3 - 3.5m.

Resistance 3: I don't know what's going to happen with this one.

I don't what games have truly done "poorly", but if there are any games that would be considered "sub-par" sellers, I would bet on SOCOM 4 & Motorstorm: Apocalypse (although this one is understandable given the Japan earthquake) to be those games (although again, we don't know what the expectations were from Sony, but I'm guessing they were at least a little higher than they are now). On the other hand, most of Sony's IPs perform like PlayStation IPs of the past (or 3rd party IPs that were/are still PlayStation exclusive). That wasn't really how they solidified victories though, it was their unrivaled libraries (which seems to be what their aiming for with the PS3).

It's just a speculation game either way (and BenV does make a few good points). I just prefer Sony's method of put out game after game, than to just recycle the same IPs over and over.

I agree, other than SOCOM 4 & Motorstorm, I think most games released this year have been definitely successful for Sony. I was just trying to explain to BenV that the reason those games aren't outselling their predecessars (yet) is because of specific issues within those individual titles. Sony's method of releasing games is not harmful to their games.
