Forums - Gaming - Which console were you playing when you had the most fun with video games?

I would certainly say PC, Mac, or Apple IIe, or maybe even C64. I could make an argument for each one. But, since you narrowed it to just consoles that makes it far harder.

I guess I would have to go with NES as that was my first introductions to JRPGs, Dragon Warrior. Unfortunately almost every JRPG to date has been a clone of DW1 (with small iterations), so that first JRPG game I played was the one I enjoyed the most. But I keep trying and hoping to regain that magic feeling from the early 90s

My prediction (Jan 15th, 2008), total sales by end of 2008: Wii - 35 million X360 - 25 million PS3 - 21 million

Mine is N64 my older bros. owned one and i remember sometimes playing mario 64, mario party 1, ocarina of time, and mario kart multiplayer. but it wasnt till years later that i took it out and beat Sm64 and Oot, i still play it sometimes and it was the greatest video game experiance i had till i got a ps1 but still liek the 64 better

Playstation 2 :

Ratchet & Clank + Jak & Daxter = Funnest time of my life.

N64. Star Fox anyone?

at 23 and playing games since the Atari it comes down to the SNES with PC in second. With SNES the time was right, I was young there were tons of games I was just learning about alot of different Genres (such as RPGs), every game no matter how mediocre or just plain bad was still fun (I rented pit fighter at least twice and beat it). Every tuesday I would go to the video store for there rent 1 get one free on games and that would last me until the weekend.

The PC comes in second, I was a bit older when I got into PC gaming (my teens at least) but games like Starcraft, unreal tourney and fallout gave me many blissful hours of gaming. Starcraft was like a religion almost. Everynight at 11:00 when my dad would go to bed I would get on the PC log onto to battlenet go to my few hangouts and play all night long. Had every unit's stats and dialogue memorized, stategies, new the lost temple better than my own house. Still to hear "my life for auir!" just feels like home to me.

Either PC or SNES.

Saturn. I really really really really miss great console 2-D, and the new/awesome things SEGA games were doing with sprites (Dragon Force, Guardian Heroes).

The PC by far. Counter-Strike, Descent, FreeSpace 2, Alice, Tribes, Mechwarrior 3 & 4, Warcraft, Diablo, Dungeon Keeper, Half-Life, Max Payne 1 & 2, Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Fallout 1 & 2 . . . I could keep going.

I like console gaming too, but the best overall experiences have been on the PC for me.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Without question the SNES.
I mean the diversity of the library that even though it was filled with clone after clone , it had some more experimetal stuff. The evolving differences in the generations of games that brought new experiences the peak of 2D gaming that occured. I mean the SNES started with Act Raiser and Super Mario World and culminated with Chronotrigger, FF III, and Donkey Kong Country. Than there was the unbeatable Super Ghouls and Ghosts(the peak of the series) and tons of games that were just fun even if they were not memorable. Lets also not forget Star Fox, Street Fighter 2, Pilotwings, Mortal Kombat, R type, Gradius III, Super Contra, Mario Kart, Top Gear, Secret of Mana and so on.

NES

Super Dodgeball, Punch Out, Pirates!

Computer comes close, what with the hours i've put into civilization alone.

SNES comes close, since it has the best 3-4 RPGS of all time, and Romance 3 was awesome, but a man can't live on RPG alone, or atleast i can't. The rest of the SNES games were solid but not as good as the NES.

Wii is coming close as well, if I can get a couple of more games of MLB Power Pros variety... which is the best baseball game released since "Dusty Diamond Baseball." ,FPS is as fun as it's ever been, SRPGs about the same as Gamecube though, get me a good SRPG not fire emblem, a great RPG and Smash Bros brawl, and it'll likely be the wii.

Balley Astrocade's checkmate is one of the best games ever though. That and the Wizard. But sadly didn't have enough Bally Games.

PS2 is my favorite sysetm to watch, like right now i've made a bunch of characters in Fire Pro Wrestling returns and am watching them fight each other for belts and the like.  I've done this in other wrestling games as well, as well as Romance of the three kingdoms 11.

It's even more fun than downloading Custom AI's for Age of Empire 2 and watching them fight.

Say anyone know of a game built for that purpose?  Setting up computer situations and different AI's and just watching them fight each other?
