Japan: just another proof that Wii could still rock with SW, while 3DS plummets down as fast as it jumps up.
WW: 3DS plummets below PSP scoring one of the worst weeks in its still short life and showing it could fall again under 70k, BEFORE Nintendo announced a price cut is coming soon: this makes the cut look like a panic move. It could be not, but it damn looks like that.

Wii to be third next week. Home consoles will probably remain PS3>360>Wii until xmas or pricecuts. I wanna see the 3DS' pricecut effect.

I think Gears3, Battlefield 3 and MW 3 will give 360 a boost before hollydays.

Can we now say that Wii is doomed?

What are you talking about?  360 has been undertracked many times and has had to be adjusted and the ps3 overtracked plenty of times and had to be adjusted.  Your facts aren't right.

Anyways sales for the home consoles will probably be PS3>360>Wii until the end of September, and I'm interested to see how the price cut helps the 3DS.  Overall slow sales right now even for summer, everyone is down YOY.

3DS isn't down .

Haha very true

ps3> wii and psp > 3ds..and honestly after the numbers I think we are under-tracking psp weekly here
3ds should come on top with the price cut, let's see how long it will stay there

Mmh I don't know if it will, I just don't want to set my expectation high, since this is the reason Wii Nintendo had to cut the price (too high expectations). It'll sure do better, but until bigger games like Mario Kart, I just don't expect it to do outstanding numbers.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

well this is from 250 downwards tho and it's a big price cut on a very new device. there will be plenty of demand, especially in the first few months..then the games should come and help it along

Sure but I'm hearing many saying how they'll buy it in the holidays, when MK7 and M3DL are launched...I really don't expect the bump PS3 had when its price was cut to 299$, while the boost in the holidays should be pretty consistent. This is for the west, in Japan in already had many games appealing to the public, so people with the new colour and price could be more influenced into buying it. 150k weekly is the maximum average week I'm expecting, if it does better good for us 3DS owners, for third parties and for Nintendo.

DS is a monster.
Wii, well, no comments...
3DS price cut give hope, but not for sales.

I may not be a captain of industry, but I can damn near say it's a fact that this was a panic move.  This was NOT a move that Nintendo intended to make this soon, one must only look at their corporate history to confirm this.  It's a massive price cut.

Their expected net profit fell 82% percent.  EIGHTY-TWO percent.  I'm pretty sure it'll do fine with the cut, but it's not something they wanted to do. No way.
