Your wasting your time my friend, i find it funny how the defenders cannot find much concrete reasons as to why the game is good. Except for 1 or 2. If anyone thinks the script in this game is actually good then that tells me one of a few things. A) they wouldnt know a good script/story if it slapped their momma in the face and left a hand print. B) Maybe i dont know a good script and the game story was actual good( it wasnt) C) Maybe my standards or too damn high, after the PS1/2 eras when we were getting good to very good RPGs, to the point we were drowning in them.  D) The standards for "good" JRPG has just dropped. I mean if this is truly the "best" JRPG released on consoles then I have been a fool for years defending the genre and not listening to my dude bro friends when they tell me to stop playing the emo crap and play the Fallouts/Mass Effects, etc. Ironically thats what i have done and im pretty content.

I have no problem with change, Crisis COre and Tactics are different games and i love those. Hell TWEWY is as different a JRPG as you can get and it make FF13 its bitch. I didnt like the game because it was simply NOT FUN. Forget the mechanics. The game was boring to me, all i did was walk down halls and fight using a system that was decent at best. The story was boring, the villian was the worst villian ive seen in the history of ANY media, the characters was boring. Playing FF13 was like going to work and not getting paid. If you want to blow 60 bucks on a game that is just "decent" knock yourself out, I for one will not support mediocrity. A half assed game deserves half assed profit, that means i wait still the price drops in the bargain bin or used game store, whichever comes first

I don't know if you directed a lot of your points towards my earlier post, but I as a so called "defender" enjoy this game and find it good because I like the characters, the story (a bit cliche, but still nice), the battle system and the linearity. I'd like the ability to have greater customization, though I think XIII-2 will add on to that. I also never claimed FFXIII was the "best" JRPG this gen; I merely said that it was one of the better ones (which it is, the competition in the genre isn't too good on home consoles). It's all a matter of personal opinion and you can choose to buy it at the bargain bin but I don't find the game mediocre so I certainly won't be "blowing" 60 dollars on XIII-2. Heck, I've clocked in 100 hours in XIII so I definitely got my money's worth. Once again, it's your opinion and if you don't like it, don't buy it. Handhelds are still good for the genre like you said.

Fair enough, i can at least agree with the bolded. And to be honest i havent played that much JRPGs on consoles this gen. Especially after reviews, they look quite meh I find the WRPGs to be much better in quality.

I don't blame you. There aren't many JRPGs on home consoles, let alone many good ones. Valkyria Chronicles is good, but I consider it as more of a SRPG than a JRPG. Demon's Souls just isn't a JRPG in my opinion. This leaves a select few like Tales of Vesperia (only on 360 in the West) and probably some niche ones I don't know/care about. It's all about WRPGs on home consoles now.

The screwed up part is that even if i was to give ff13-2 a go, i would probably still hate it, because i dont know who genius idea was to have you play the game as some new dull character and freaking Serah of all people. Really SE??? Serah???? She was lame in the regular game and i dont see that changing. No Sazh or Fang in sight.

You better thank them for not forcing Snow and Hope upon you.

Serah at least has a hope, since her appearances in the game were so brief. The above two are, however, beyond salvation.

I'll buy FFXIII-2. It's totally not a launch day buy, though. I'll get it maybe when it's $20 brand new.

I'm more interested in the PS3 version of FFXIV, TBH.

I'll get it Day 1 for sure, going to wait to play it in english before Japanese this time (my colloquial Japanese sucks these days so I commonly struggle with some game langauge use) seeing as the releases are so close, that and I want to give Tomb Raider a chance (I figure if I get both TR and FFXIII-2 in december the good of TR will pale next to XIII-2's coolness). So it will be day 1 for the English version & probably 3 months after release for the Japanese version

Shall I grab you a box of tissues? :(

so let me get this straight, I explain in a detailed, rational way why FFXIII is a bad game and that makes me a whiner, or a child, or whatever it is you're insinuating I am?  Based on this response I imagine it's not me who has to grow up.

The square enix fanboys are a delusional bunch. I have every final fantasy released and nothing made me more dissapointed than FF13. I instead found to love a lovely little company called NISA who are actually releasing brilliant rpg's this generation. As an rpg collector, i am so happy a companies like NISA and level-5 are around. They put the likes of square enix to shame.

^Atlus puts NISA and L5 to shame most of the time...
I suggest you get a taste.

I stopped at FF7

True that. ANd to be fair SE's handheld efforts have been a hell of alot better i dont understand why the console games are sucking so bad
