doubt it, one thing about MS is they rip people off where ever they can, there's no way they would make only having to buy one version and having it playable on both

Actualy it the demographic doesnt cross over like you belive. many PC enthusiast gamers dont own cnsoles and vice versa dont own gaming rigs. It would actually save alot of development cash to make one version. Its more feesable than you think.

Even if they only made one version they'd still charge for it twice

Why?

The PC guy would pay £40 to have it. And the console guy would pay £40 to have it. instead of having to devolop 2 games and cost more develpment money to see the end result stay the same.

I don't think you understand, the OP said you would only have to buy one version to play either, even if it' the exact same code if someone wnated to play it on pc and xbox MS would charge them for each version

I know what he meant. The same disc could play on either. It would not hurt the profit. DEv costs would be down. It would be god business as PC gamers would pay for a copy anyway. Very few gamers own both gaminng rigs and consoles.

What does it have to do with dev costs, they would have to do very little to make it unplayble on the one it' s not labeled as, and MS would still probably make it so you have to buy both to play both, since there are very few both they'd just see it as no1 cares

maybe

?

Ok, this is how  I uderstand it.

MS change Windows and Xbox to operate the same. Meaning one development and one disc. Not needing to develop a seperate windows version for say Forza 5. So instead of 2 develpments 1 Xbox and 1 Windows. Youd have 1 that runs on both. Maning les dev costs and 2 demographics still buying the discs.

Meaning about the same profit, better acessability but less dev costs. And more people prraisng MS.

I actually believe dev costs are already down. It's in MS best interest to do so. And this has been the biggest selling point for third parties.

BTW not the same disc just the same game.
PC = Digital Distribution
X720 = Discs and DD

Even using the same OS and the game being the exact same code they'd still charge seperately for the  game on the respective systems

So if Limbo 2 releases on...

Windows 8
Windows Phone 8
Windows Tablet 8
X720

People will have to buy it 4 times if they want it on all platforms?

That's already the case with games like Plants Vs Zombies. No, they're not the same OS, but people are used to buying a game seperately for each platform.

I wonder i MS would ever buy out Steam or VAlve. IT certainly can with amazing ease.

Valve isnt a publicly traded company.

Probably, they might bundle the phone and tablet one but that's as far as they'd go, and limbo 2 would probably be multiplat, since limbo 1 is making the jump, can we replaced it with "random MS deved and published game"
