Paris, July 20, 2011 – Today, Ubisoft released its sales figures for the fiscal quarter ending June 30, 2011.
Sales
Sales for the first quarter of 2011-12 came to €103 million, down 36.3% (or 33.6% at constant exchange rates) compared to the €161 million recorded for the same period of 2010-11.
First-quarter 2011-12 sales were, however, higher than the guidance of approximately €90 million issued when Ubisoft released its full-year results for 2010-11. The quarter saw the following:
  • A solid performance from back-catalog titles, with sales up 84.0% to €68 million, thanks in particular to Assassin’s Creed® Brotherhood and the dance titles.
  • The launches of Child of EdenTM and Michael Jackson The Experience on Kinect, compared with the releases of Splinter Cell Conviction® and Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands® in the first quarter of 2010-11.
  • A 45.0% increase in online sales, to €12.5 million. XBLA titles OutlandTM and Might & Magic Clash of Heroes® performed well, with quality review ratings close to 85%.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood 7.5m (quantity lower than ACII but with better selling price than ACII, result in higher revenue.)
Michael Jackson 4m

Other notes from the conference call:

  • AC 3DS is cancelled as was said by the lead writer, decision was made back in Sep 2010. Titles like Imagine and Petz are coming.
  • ACR preorders are higher than ACB in the same period last year.
  • They expect Wii to be strong over the holidays, specially in casual section.
  • Short movies are coming before release of GR and AC.

Really? looked beautiful yes (actually played it on the pc) awesome? :S I dunno I got bored and stopped half way through the game..was no where near the quality of the ps2/pc games prior to it imho...Warrior Within > ALL! :P

Warrior Within is easily the worst modern PoP game (excluding spinoffs). A linear game that stretches its content by making you run several times through the same areas accompanied by music that is totally out of place. Plus laughable boss fights.


well I disagree there...story wise I think Sands of time had the best story of the lot but gameplay wise? Warrior within was the best of the series..best combat the series has seen to date.....I thought the boss battles were good actually ..so might be a difference in opinion there but I find it hard to believe you think the boss battles of any of the previous POP games can be worse than the 2008 one which I thought had laughable combat/gameplay and boss battles...

music again is a difference in opinion I suppose..I enjoyed it. I do agree it had a bit too much backtracking...but the combat was fun enough to keep it interesting..I think I played the game 2-3 times completely...

so story wise

Sands > warrior > twin Thrones > 2008

combat wise

warrior >>>>>>>>>>>>>twin>>>Sands>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2008

visuals

2008 > rest

that's my personal take on the series..I miss the last gen POP games dearly :(

Combat always was crap, so the 2008 game wins, because it has the least of it. Boss battles were never much fun either.

In hindsight, the modern PoP games have all been pretty mediocre games that covered major design flaws with the ability to turn back time.

well there is a silver lining, AC was apparently canned before 3DS's launch meaning this thread's worriesome trend is completely unfounded...
