Movie playback, and also some 3D movies available for purchase, i would LOVE to see Avatar on 3DS.

That would be cool

I am surprise they didn't release the movie already. It's like... free money.

Yeah that is true. I think Nintendo is waiting to release stuff just to offset the PSV, i mean the first update came around the time of E3, so maybe at Tokyo Game Show we'll get another update, or what ever

the ability to do something else while downloading.

1) message system with the ability to exchange 3D photos.
2) the message of a friend connected should not be general but show WHO has connected, and happen also in-game (should not be difficult I think); maybe even the ability to invite someone to a game...
3) better organization of the eshop, 30 icons is too much: just divide them into VC, DSiWare, 3DSWare and demos, then in every one of these categories you find the main genres.
4) a video channel with lots of videos and not only 2-3 videos every thursday like for the eshop.
5) new Mii Plaza games and improved spotpass functionality: using it for just Pokedex and DoA costumes is stupid, they should send us videos or things every day! Obviously one could shut down this feature...

This is what I can think at the moment, but I expect nothing of this to be aviable before September...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

All these are some great ideas, but if you were able to do something while downloading wouldn't that be like multitasking, and if that is the case shouldn't all the apps on the 3DS be available to multitasking, like while you're playing your games go play FindMii

360, PSP, and PS3 all three allow you to exit your download menu and do other things while downloads continue in the background. There isn't a single gaming system out there that lets your put one game on pause just so you can go play another game. That's ridiculous.

I just want downloads to be able to happen in the background. Not only would that allow me to run multiple downloads at one time (something I've been known to do VERY frequently on my 360), but also not force me to sit there and stare at a rather dull screen for two or three minutes while the system is busy downloading.

That's my biggest complaint with the Wii, DSi, and 3DS. I own and love all three, but they drive me nuts.

I think better organisation of the home menu. Maybe a single 3D video channel, instead of having one's 3D trailers all taking up a separate space each. Other than that, I pretty much agree with what you said.

1) The ability to create folders in the home menu (like on iPhone / iPad). It's simply too crowded and could use some more structure and folders can be used to store your software in whichever way you like.

2) Different colors for Gameboy games. I remember the Super Gameboy and some N64 games would let you play your Gameboy games in different colors. I would really like to change the colors depending on the atmosphere of a game. It's also extremely easy to include from a programming perspective. Just make sure the colors aren't too bright.

3) Improved DS emulation. It's still blurry. The last update improved the visuals quite a lot but it's not quite there yet. Still needs more color and sharpness. Also why is there no widescreen option?

4) Some form of light multitasking. I don't need to listen to my music while playing a game but MP3 playback in the home menu / eShop / Internet Browser would be cool.

5) Simple free to download arcade games that give those "game coins" some use. Playing Donkey for one coin per play or something. Just simple, small games.
