Forums - Gaming - Dark Souls: Introducing the Gravelord, aka Griefing is Only a Button Click Away

Gamepro

Demon's Souls was a soul-crushingly difficult game that, somehow, captured the hearts and minds of RPG fans across the world. Not mine, though. I hate that game. And it looks like developer From Software is trying to make their "spiritual successor" Dark Souls even more sadistically unpleasant.

In the video below, we learn about a special power of the Pyromancer class: the ability to summon a Gravelord into another players game and have it mindlessly hunt down and try to kill that other player. You don't get to set a specific target for the Gravelord, and you never learn whether he was successful. So, why would you want to do this unfriendly and evil task? The demoer explains: "You don't get any extra stuff at the moment. Basically, you get the pleasure of knowing that you're making it more difficult for someone else out there within the Dark Souls world."

What an asshole.

Yeah.

Actually, it seems that may not be the case.  Poeple ong af are speculating that the characters in the video were just sample builds that you can work towards, and it's still up to you to do whatever you want.

I really hope so, because the amount of customization that was available on Demon's Souls was one of it's biggest strenghts. I can't account for the immense amount of times I took on blue&black phantoms with that method XD.

Why would that be a crime? I had a character for online playing and another for entirely offline play, to get the platinum trophy.

It was nigh impossible to get the platinum trophy if you played online, as everytime that you logged in inside The Nexus your World Tendency would get rebooted to neutral (most of the times) or slightly leaning towards White. Rarely you would get to Pure Black tendency, outside the special event weeks that Atlus shifted the Tendencies to either side, because the server would take in account an average of every player's tendency.

Plus, nothing sucks more than you trying to defeat Scirvir on NG 4plus and then a frigging BP comes into your game and backstabs you, just as you manage to defeat him. I was never a vengeful man, but I swear to you that I hunted that BP player for a month and he paid in dividends.
