Forums - General - Kids blamed in Christmas Eve theft

I have no words to explain how much I would smack their asses if they were my kids, so, i'll just settle with the default title.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Local police said it was a typical holiday Grinch tale: A home was broken into on Christmas Eve, and wrapped presents were stolen off a kitchen table.

Little did they know the culprits were kids.

Authorities said Friday that a 9-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy used a gift card to pick the lock on the back door of a home a block away. They then took about $200 in wrapped presents that were located on a kitchen table, including Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers CDs.

The couple who lived in the home returned from some Christmas Eve shopping to find the house broken into, and the presents gone, South Brunswick police Detective Jim Ryan said.

One of the children's relatives who also lived in the neighborhood spoke with the couple and realized the gifts matched some mysterious extra presents the children appeared to receive on Christmas.

The relative contacted the children's mother, who got the truth out of them on Wednesday, and then contacted police.

"A 9- and 5-year-old would never be on our suspect list. For a burglary? Maybe for taking a bike or something like that, but not for a burglary," Ryan said.

The children's names were not released, and charges are not planned.

I don't seem to see the part in the article where it inevitably blames video games

Note that this is posted in "Off Topic Discussion". Hence, doesn't have to do anything with video games.

thats because it was caused by that evil Hannah Montana music. Its worse then Rock&Roll!!!!

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

It never feels good to have to explain your own joke...

I was having a go at the fact that everything [not really everything] that is wrong with society is blamed on video games nowadays

I motion that no official charges be made, but the children be grounded to their rooms for half of their entire '08 summer vacation.

Seems pretty fair to me. When I was five, that would've definitely gotten the point across.

sorry, in my book, that would have been the end of christmas for them for at least an entire year. Their gifts would be going to the people they took the presents from and the year after that they would have to have been darn amazing, perfect grades and charitable works all over the place to get anything the christmas after that.

"you remember last christmas? Last christmas we had presents and it turned out that we had someone else's presents too? you remember how that happened? I didn't want that to happen again, so this year, there aren't any presents, so if any extra presents pop up, we'll know about it right away."
