Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer has said that with the development of Ryse, Crytek has “fallen in love” with Kinect, adding the relationship between the German company and MS is “a perfect marriage.”

Cliche central aside, Spencer said that it had looked at bringing in Crytek as a first-party studio before.

“I do think it’s about quality,” he told OXM UK.

“And the relationship with Crytek is a perfect example. The first time we met with [Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli] and the team was around seven or eight years ago, and we started talking about what it’d mean for them to become first party.

“And it was a process of what do you guys want to do, what’s unique for us, and they were just going to do Crysis, and they’d just come out of Far Cry, and we said we’ve probably got enough military future shooters, so go do that.

“Then they came up with this idea around Ryse, and now they’ve really fallen in love with Kinect, and it’s a perfect marriage for us.”

Ryse currently has no date yet. Expect a big blowout in Crytek’s home turf of Germany next month at gamescom.

Interesting, shame MS can't buy them

Most of Crytech's business is in military simulations anyway, buying them wouldn't gain MS much especially if they are willing to creat exclusive content without be owned by MS

If Crytek does exclusive Content because they want to, okay, fine with me.

But if they joined the 'MS GAVE ME TEH MONEY!' Train, all i have to say is go fork yourself Crytek.

Im willing to bet Ryse is published by MS, and if it doest sell well, they will not be in love with Kinect any more regardless of how good the game may be.

I think any company can fall in love with $$, I'd definitely fall in love with lots of $$, to Kinect that is.

I hope this means Ryse will live up to it's potential.

I could be a great game and also a fun workout. But it all has to do with tracking and how it responds. If it follows you well and you really feel like you are playing then it could be a win!

Maybe in the future...but good thing they didn't buy them back in 2005 when they talked. It would have been another Rare.

MS: You guys want to make FarCry and Crysis games?

Crytek: Yes

MS: We already have Halo and Gears so we don't need you to do this. Can you make something else?

Crytek: No and we quit!

MS: Damn, all that money wasted. Rest of the team, I guess go make some Avatar costumes or something...

Well it will be interesting to see what Crytek does with Ryse and Kinect.
