Halo 4 on the nextbox makes sense. There has been tons of halo this gen and i dont think it makes sense to release one of if not the biggest exclusive of the gen on a console that has a year or less until the new consoles come out.
If the new console comes out in 2012 4 could be a launch title or it could be pushed back 2 2013. If console comes spring 2013 a holiday 13 release would also make a lot of sense.
My personal hope is that halo 4 gets delayed until fall 13 and the new console releases spring 13. That would put every main halo game 3 years apart. That would make the consoles first holiday very strong when usually the first holiday of consoles are quit week. Delaying 4 and putting it on the new console would help build its hype something the last 3 games didnt really have.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

This is more of what I expect to happen ...

Much like how Nintendo took a "Step forward" with the processing power of the Wii U to make it more viable as a core gaming machine, I expect Microsoft and Sony to take a "Step backwards" in processing power to be able to release their systems at a more affordable price to be more meaningful for the broader gaming market from day 1.

At E3 2012 I expect Microsoft (and Sony) to release a bunch of videos which are pre-rendered "approximations" of what people can expect from their systems, along side a series of very limited tech-demos; and create unrealistic expectations for games on their system. The goal of this will be to have the Wii U compete against a "Phantom" competitor.

I expect Microsoft will put a greater emphasis on Kinect and may go as far as including an "advanced" version of Kinect with every system sold.

I expect XBox Live to become a free to the end user and Microsoft to try to pay for the service through ads delivered in game (probably between matches).

price is irrelevant.... Sony just effed up themselves last gen they could have rolled out the PS3 for cheaper from day 1.... yeah more lose at launch but you get your money back faster by waterfall effect....

How many gamers and game sales did Sony lose by trying to bring a $600 console to market?

That's what I'm saying they shot themselves in the foot.... they could have easily released at a cheaper price at day 1.... sure with more losse, but they would have recovered from it on the long run!!!!

and 400 for a new system is doable even with new advance tech especially if you have different format.... and I don't see why MS and Sony would care about WiiU I mean I'm almost certain they won't pull out the stunt they did with the Wii... for 2 reasons.... first they might say there is no excuse for the devs to not do core games.... COOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL...... who cares.... the real question is do core gamers want to play on Wii??????? I mean if I have a 360 or a PS3 and the Wii is now doing same quality core games.... why should I care especially if my current console is coming also with a new system pretty soon....

If the Wii U plays all the same games as the PS4 and Microsoft's next generation system with a graphical downgrade similar to what we saw between the Playstation and N64 (or PS2 and XBox) what reason is there to own the other systems if non-traditional gamers in your household want the Wii U for Wii U specific games?

again what I am saying.... but the opposite way..... if WiiU plays games you can find on XB360 or PS3... with a little bit of margin to make some better looking game... but a new sys come after for each (PS3, XB) within 2 years of launch why put out 400 bucks for it.... they are the one trying to get the core that have a PS or XB.....

and non traditional gamers don't want anything.... they'll be aware of WiiU when it will be on the cover of the 10 major magasin after launch not before.....

and second I'm still dead certain that the Wii trend was just a Trend... even after all that time.... on LT sales of Wii how many people are REAL casual who never bought anything else than Wii sport and Wii Fit and don't give a flying crap about WiiU.... I think Wii was an excellent product but I'm not sure it's user base is going to follow to the next gen..... so why should MS or Sony take the risk when they can just support their last gen a little bit longer for the casual. and launch a new sys around the same usual price.....

With people not playing games, why does it sell so much software?

????? where do you see SOOOO much SW sales.... when you have 87 million LT sales in HW and you are called nintendo and have been in the biz for a quarter century + and you have 3 to 1 attach rate that is not really good..... I know tons of people who have a Wii and Wii sport, Wii fit, and mario kart here is your 3 attach rate.... not really insightfull for third party.....

now live going free.... I doubt it..... or maybe with the option of paying for no ads or better service..... and I would still rather have it not free.... because free stuff don't have the same quality standards most of the time..... the fact live is not free makes it less accessible to morons... because morons tends to be cheap..... or let me put it that way..... people who use free stuf are more likely to act up like morons than when they pay for something..... just for that keep it not free PLEASE MS.... for once that I want you to rob me.... don't stop lol....

I have nothing agains nintendo.... but I'm not sure there success story will work twice in a row.....

and I don't see why MS and Sony should copy that approach as it would be more benifical to them on the very long run to go thge long way.... by over taking ninty with muscle..... you have to remeber Sony is doing a console to also push there other line of HW...... and MS is doing the same to push the rest of their hardware and third party hardware using their software and services..... not just for a presence in the gaming industry...

if there isn't a tech gap we'll have a choke point with the consumers.... and somebody is gonna go down really bad.... no point of having more than one console.... what saved that gen is the number of people having 2 systems.... otherwise one of the players in that genwould have had some butt pain for a while.....

i think its extremly extremly unlikely that they make XBL free. they now make more that a billion dollars a year in profit just from that. I also think because of that its likley that they release a new console with base model of 350 or 400 and kinect model for 450 or 500 while losing up to 200 on every one sold. even then they would still make a profit because of xbl.

For starters, I have always hated the Xbox 720 meme... can we please go by NextBox or something else since 720 is just retarded and doesn't even make sense. They won't be using 720.

Agreed.  My guess is it will be called Xbox 1080...

I also agree with what others have said about Halo 4 being a smarter move on the next console, specifically as a launch title.

But as far as the Xbox 1080 coming in the fall of 2012, I remain skeptical.  It's certainly possible, as it gives the 360 a full seven years on the market without a successor, but unless they have a pretty hefty price tag in mind, I don't see it being able to largely out-perform Wii U (which I believe will be $299), and without the benefit of Nintendo's IPs or a new hook (maybe).  I think it would be in Microsoft's best interest to roll with the 360 until 2013, when the Xbox 1080 could debut with a very strong presence, better tech, a cheaper price and a far better launch lineup.  Plus, launching their successor early also gives the Playstation 3 a huge chance at overcoming 360's WW sales; something that Microsoft adamantly wants to prevent, almost out of principle alone.

Halo 2 came out in November 2004, Xbox 360 came out November 2005...

They could have a Halo game ready for launch even if they release Halo 4 for te 360... Halo Wars 2 or something similar to ODST perhaps, or better yet get some new IPs out at the launch of the console to help establish them and leave Halo X to release a year or two after the Xbox 3 because it is a safe bet that it will be a big seller.

Personally, as far as naming goes, I would like to see them go with the 'Fusion' suffix and could push interconnectivity between Windows, Xbox and Windows Phone as the big selling point like they were meant to with the 360.

i don't want the next Xbox to be Xbox720 cause its just double of 360 sound so weak...

Nextbox will be two 360s duct-taped together, essentially, processing-wise.

The controller will face minor changes (most noticeable change will be the completely reworked d-pad), and the 360's controller will be compatible.

The main changes will be that the hardware is solid this time, and smaller. It will also use blu-ray or a similar format.

There will, however, be one new feature in it that makes it unique, just to keep it from being COMPLETELY just an upgraded 360.

I think online / digital focus will continue to be the centre of MS Xbox strategy. I don't predict anything different or big, but I do think they will improve what they are doing right now with X360.

- I predict multiple tiers of xbox live subscriptions
- More emphasis on virtual goods and microtransactions (Free2Play, Avatars, Pay-per-View...etc)
- TV network
- More Interactive Ads
- More web based applications / sites integrated into xbox live
- Bridging of Window based products with Xbox (Tile interface, W7phone connection with Xbox)

On the technical side of things, I really have no idea how much of improvement nextBox will have over X360.
- New disc format (blueray?)

Gaming wise, I am kind of optimistic in terms of first party support but 3rd party support is pretty much in the bag in comparison to Nintendo and WiiU.
