Forums - Gaming - Your Game of the Year So Far

Earlier this year my retail GOTY was Mortal Kombat.

But due to MK's terrible online (the game itself offline is excellent) my new retail GOTY is Child of Eden.

My arcade GOTY has already been decided, and its not even out yet........... Guardian Heroes.

when dead red dead redemption come out.

dude, the game came out over a year ago and won more GOTY awards than anyother game. You must be really old school... And I mean alheimers old!

January games never get recognised as GOTY material :(

Let's forget Mass Effect 2. It probably won the 2nd morst goty awards behind RDR. LBP2 still probably won't get many awards though; too many good games and LBP1 already won lots of GOTY awards. A series rarely wins back-to-back GOTY Awards in the same gen.

Anyway here's mine

Single Player
1. Portal 2
2. inFAMOUS 2
3. Dead Space 2

Multiplayer
1. LittleBigPlanet 2
2. Killzone 3

Overall
1. LittleBigPlanet 2
2. Portal 2
3. inFAMOUS 2 / Killzone 3 (Depends on how much Ilike inF2's level builder)

interesting: All of the games above are the 2nd game in their respective series this gen.

Note: I haven't played LA Noire yet

InFamous 2 so far is my GOTY. I think Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog have nailed creating great action/adventure titles with great theatrics and scale. Those games are on par with GOW3 as the total package. Thats worth the $60. I've never said this before, but I am starting to become extremely impressed by Sony exclusives as they vary but are never very low on my list of must haves in the past two years.

I can't wait to play the Witcher 2 though. It shouldn't hurt to pick up a cheap $100 360 at Gamestop in September to get my hands on that n Gears 3. Doubt either will beat Uncharted 3 though, the game and multiplayer looks amazing. I'm putting money on that game getting GOTY.

I'll probably get flamed by saying this but Dragon Age 2 and L.A Noire are both my Game of the Years so far. I know alot of people hate Dragon Age 2 but I loved it.

Witcher 2 is extremely over-rated and I find myself struggling to play it. I enjoyed Infamous 2 but wasn't exactly blown away by it.

Come november, I'm almost 100% sure my Game of the Year would be Uncharted 3.

And come 2012, my GOTY = Tekken Tag Tournament 2 + FF 13-2 (I have hopes for this game *crosses fingers that SE will redeem themselves*)

Terraria comes pretty close out of nowhere, but for now Portal 2 edges ahead of The witcher 2 for me. If the witcher 2 didn't have such a clunky interface and a bit more polish it would have won hands down.

From dust might be able to take the crown if my expectations come through and it will be as good as populous the beginning with some real earth shaping powers.

Gonna have to go with Crysis 2 pc for my game of the year so far. I know a lot of people bashing the game for being a "console port" and having a different game design than crysis which i think are in a way valid points. However if u look at Crysis 2 as a game in its own right, its a really great game, with great production values. Everything about it was awesome...aside from it being very different to Crysis(the original) which was great fun in a different way. I think Crytek should have just made Crysis 2 as a new IP instead of a crysis sequel...i know that seems farfetched but i think it would have received a greater reception that way. Yeah theres the nanosuit, aliens etc. but from a gameplay point of you i thought it was fundamentally different.

Anyways thats a bit off topic. Other than Crysis 2, some honorable mentions go to Killzone 3 and The Wither 2.

Killzone 3 was a great MP game...it kinda got me into MP. But i found the single player campaign lacking.

I would have said The Witcher 2 is my GOTY so far, however i just finished it.....in under a week! and thats not a week's worth of game play...thats a few hours every day, i played on normal difficulty and i DID NOT rush through it. A real missed opportunity i feel, as the gameplay, the world and everything about this game was awesome as well. Just feels a bit unpolished and rushed. Too short and WAAAAAAY to easy. I actually cant believe some people picked it as the GOTY so far...unless they ignoring the third act and its faults :/

I do prefer the RPG genre so generally for me RPG's >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>shoooters. But objectively i gotta go with crysis 2.
