Deadliest Warrior much? Anyway the question is not "in a war" or "groups", it's 1v1. In that scenario, I think a monk's skill set would best a Viking's.

This is pretty much how I think it would play out (minus the gun shot at the last second, obviously )
The Monk may land more hits on the Viking, but the Viking is built to take a serious beating, and eventually would get his hands on the Monk and break him in half.

I don't know about you guys, but besides the Twin Hooks, Sword, and Polearm weapons we all know shaolin monks like to use, these 2 actually made me go wow.

Rope Dart and Meteor Hammer.
