I just copied all files over to a bigger SD card (32GB yeah) and it worked fine.
(Just don't use the smaller card with the old data again after you used the new card. This can cause trouble I heard.)

What kind of trouble? I like troubles.

I think DD games can't be transfered like this, otherwise piraing software would be extremely easy...for those you can save them on the internal memory of the console and put only photos, music and external data onto the SD, it should work fine.

And now with the eshop you can even connect your eshop account with the Club Nintendo Account, so everything could be downloaded a second time for free even if you delete it at all.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

I think it might confuse the system and the data on both cards might be rendered unusable. I'm not sure, though. But once you upgraded to a bigger card, there's no need to use the other one again.

Why not? It could become corrupt or something and you could just pop in the old card until you buy another one.

I think it's written in the manual that you can't use the old card any more. But to be frank, I'm too lazy to check now. :D

Have a look in the manual and let us know what you find out.
