I did ofcourse I bought it to play blu-ray discs.

I don't find $199 BD players to be readily available. At least this is currently the case in Canada. On Boxing Day I couldn't find a BD Player readily available in western Canada beolw $399 CDN. Otherwise I would only have one PS3 and three BD players.

I bought it primarily as a game system ,but once I bought the HDTV I have already bought a couple BD movies and plan to do the same in each film thats released simultaneously in both formats .

Why Not? Blu-Ray is the future :D
Even though it is one the cheapest Blu-Ray players (I think there's cheaper, correct me if I'm wrong) People would still pay a premium to get that Blu-Ray player AND a gaming console. If your looking to buy a Blu-Ray player that retails for $349, why not throw in an extra $50 for a gaming console. I would do it.
And plus, the PS3, as a Blu-Ray player, is future-proof. Due to it's constant firmware updates and future enhancements and what-not.
