Forums - Nintendo - Front Mission DS is incredible

Really, how come i haven't heard much hype for this title at all. My brother has it and I just got it to play a bit this week and really this game is so much fun. Its not Advance Wars since I think it can get slightly repetitive but still the customisation and general flow of the battles is really great.

Seriously, if you're an advance wars fan or a strategy rpg fan get this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Around the Network

How does it differ from Advance Wars? To what extent can you customise it, e.g. map editor?

Is it a full-price game since it is a remake of a remake?

Have you seen Advance Wars DS 2 (or whatever its name is)? Would this be a better buy than that?

No I wouldn't put this above any Advance Wars game at all and I don't think there is a map editor. It's just that it has its own style with using mechs and what not. Also you don't create units but progress through the story recruiting new pilots and getting through the story. From the little I played, there are 3 main unit types, Melee, Short and Long depending on the type of attacks they use. The real fun part is the customisation of parts. You can choose the type of legs, right arm, left arm, body type and even CPU you give to your units and they all look different and work different. There are also various special skills different units can learn as they level up.

Meh, I don't like long-haul RPGs. That's what's so good about Advance Wars for me; that and the map editor.

It's totally different from Advance Wars. It's more a SRPG like Final Fantasy tactics, Ogre battle and the other Front Mission games.

If i remember correctly it's actually a remade Front Mission 1 from like... the SNES. Front Mission 3 was great. Front Mission 4... eh.
