Forums - Sales - Quarterly Sales - As requested~

The extra "Others" sales for PS3 are because the "others" section of "Others" [the last table on the weekly hardware by country page] includes some areas that are not PAL, and so the PS3 had been released earlier.

Very nice set of data by the way Sqrl.

also, where did those 13k sales for the ps3 come from before it was even launched in others?

PS3 was launched in Hong Kong & Taiwan in Q4 2006, same as Canada, Japan, and USA.

Yay, do it ioi. More charts, the merrier. :p

Neat, I like it. Would be very easy for us to add this as an auto feature on the site.

Something else you should probably include is the shipped quarterly numbers from the big 3 when they are available. Not only is this relevent info but it helps put the data into some context, and it also helps add to the validity of your data by showing that you embrace the only hard data and that our numbers agree. But also you can put a note about shipped =/= sold to retailers and explain why it is a bit less etc...so now it turns into an education tool as well for newer members/lurkers.

Mean sales?

Great figures. Most striking thing for me - in the off season, both the PS3/360 are doing about 1m per qrt. The Wii is doing about 3m. This 3:1 ratio seems pretty solid.

I expect the Wii to do about 3m next qrt, and the PS3/360 to do about 1.5m

@Sham,

Really? Just curious but are you saying Nintendo is relegating ~800k units a month to the china stockpile?

I'm not saying 3m is impossibly low but lower than I would have predicted..you would predict.

 I do not know what Shams expect but I think Nintendo will not stockpile in the first  quarter (at least) in an effort to meet the demand worldwide with their 1.8M production.

I also expect them to fail and decide that another hefty production increase is necessary before they can seriously consider stockpiling for a Chinese launch... or for xmas 08 (a lot like this year basically, with the production increase going to Xmas stockpile while hte shipping number stays around the former production (current ATM) level).

Wii's weakest quarter rivals PS3's best. Wow.

I would say 4.5 for wii next quarter, and the main reason that low is because Nintendo had to speed some shipments from the factories to pull off Dec 07 numbers. That means next quarter's numbers will be down slightly.

The real question is how long until the wii demand bubble bursts and what kind of sales will it be able to sustain at that point... Initial sales are always start higher than sustained sales, and the wii is the only console still riding on the initial demand bubble (in the US)... I was guessing it was around 30 mil total 6 months ago, but with wii fit coming and by the time they reach 30 mil, I doubt supply will catch up with demand until Q2 09 with over 40mil total.
