Forums - Nintendo - Wii will always have Wii Sports As Pack-In: Opinion

Why do you have to replace Wii Sports? Just bundle another game. So you could have Wii Sports+MP3 bundle, that could work.

Or Wii Sports + SMG bundle if the sales ever slow down.

I don't think they will ever replace it unless they make Wii Sports 2 but then they will just have both of the games bundled together.

Nintendo still doomed?

In my opinion, Nintendo Wii will always have Wii Sports as a pack-in and probably will not change during the Wii's lifetime. This all boils down to one reason: Because the Wii is being marketed as a casual gamer system, it is safe to assume that this system has to relate to a lot of people across the world. What is one thing that relates to everyone no matter where your from? is the Thats Right. Sports answer. Sport, no matter which one game, can be used to bring people together and enjoy the game(s) everyone knows. Imagine the Nintendo Wii being packed in with something like Metroid Prime 3. I don't think this will give a good first impression to the casual gamers. Thank you for reading.

Expect more from me!! >=D

Welcom, BottledSpringWater and you are correct. Those sports are a universal language all potential players can understand. Which is precisely why Nintendo made Wii Sports.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

"Like you know"

Yeah I agree, I don't believe Nintendo will ever change that. Wii Sports is just too appropriate a pack-in to be excluded.

Wii: 44 Million
Xbox360: 25 Million
PS3: 22 Million

DS: 90 Million
PSP: 37 Million

the only change I see to the Wii bundle is maybe a 2nd controller, nunchuck, and Wii Sports 2 will be added. Nothing else will change. Wii Sports 2 will also be sold separately with the controller + nunchuck for current owners.

Oh and welcome BSW.

I can't agree with people thinking Nintendo will drop Wii Fit into any bundle - one of their advantages, outside of snowball effect momentum (ie; rolling down a hill getting greater and greater) is the price. Wii Fit is an $80 dollar game due to the board, it will remain outside of the box. Wii Play will never be packed in - it's packed in with an extra controller, a great deal as people will ususally pick it up and a nunchuck for a little more but get "9 more games"

We may see holiday pack-ins the like of SMG or maybe mario kart or brawl, maybe included VC point cards, we will see a price drop to $199 by next christmas as well.

Those games would probably be bundled when they are released, as opposed for the holidays, because by that time they will be old news :P VC Point Cards are a great idea. I really appreciated it when Microsoft gave me 2 months free Xbox Live and 1800 Microsoft Points when I got my 360. Price drop by next Christmas.... Meh..... IMO.... Not likely.

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

Of course it will. Wii Sports is to Wii as Super Mario Bros was to NES. A really important game that people want. Wii Sports is a cultural phenomenon and when they buy a Wii, they are buying it for this game most likely. Nintendo is smart and they'll keep it packed in.

I can see Nintendo doing exactly what they did with the NES. For the first few years, the Wii Sports bundle will be exclusively available. Then they'll start offering up an additional Wii Fit + Wii Sports bundle (akin to the old SMB/Duck Hunt/Track and Field + Power Pad bundle), once supply isn't so constrained. That one might be a Japan exclusive, if Wii Fit doesn't have the same impact in the US and Europe. Anyway, it'll probably be very late in the Wii's life before it gets a new pack-in that doesn't include Wii Sports, and will likely instead include the sequel or some other title that's sold like hotcakes. We saw that happen near the end of the NES' life with SMB3 as a pack-in; that will probably not happen for the Wii until just before the next generation of consoles, though.
