When you've seen your journey to completion, you unlock the Master Quest, a tougher version of the same game you just beat. All of the environments are mirrored, which gives things a refreshingly unfamiliar feel. The dungeons and temples are also stocked with more enemies and restructured puzzles to test your mettle. It's a shame the Master Quest isn't unlocked from the beginning to give veteran players an advanced point of entry, but Ocarina of Time 3D should tempt both young Kokiri and wizened Heroes of Time. Though its roots show through from time to time, the improved visuals remove any barrier of entry that age may have posed. The new elements enhance the core adventure to create the definitive version of this classic game, making Ocarina of Time 3D the best way to embark on (or relive) this landmark adventure.

The Good

  • Beautifully updated visuals  
  • Sweeping adventure with engaging side quests  
  • Exciting arsenal of weapons  
  • Stellar music and memorable characters  
  • Master Quest is an invigorating challenge.

The Bad

  • Environmental structure is relatively sparse  
  • Master Quest not unlocked from the start.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS isn't the greatest game of all time; it's not even my favorite Zelda game. It is, however, a sterling example of epic 3D adventure done right -- the likes of which you won't find on any portable until Nintendo announces an original adventure or gives The Wind Waker the 3D treatment. I'd prefer something new, but if I'm going to relive decade-old stories, this is a helluva way to do it.

the battery life is fine. even iphones,, androids suffer the same thing.

Too much power fr an OLD tech energy source.

The energy source needs to be improved.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is the first game that I honestly feel justifies owning a 3DS.  The system has some other great titles, but Zelda is the first to really hammer home just how much the capabilities of this new system can add to a game. Beautiful graphics, effective motion control, and touch-screen use that eliminates a lot of monotony, all layered on top of an already top-of-the-class game. Even if you’ve already beaten it ten times, I would still recommend Ocarina 3D because it is easily the definitive version of the game. Despite a few issues like the odd framerate hitch and music quality that should have been upgraded, this game has done the improbable and exemplified the benefits that a 3D world can bring to video gaming—twice.

hey guys how do you start master quest? i can't find it and i read a review that said that you do not have to complete the game to be able to play it so how do i do it?

You have to complete the game to play the Master Quest as far as I know.

I think review copies might have had the Master Quest enabled from the start, though...
