also take in consideration if you make a banner/synopsis for a game you can add the same one for all consoles
this shouldn't apply 2 screenshots, reviews.
this should be put in perspective when looking at the points an activity gives

Ok so maybe I'm wrong on the rather high number of incomplete game entries.

However, that leads to another question, should banners and synopsis be worth so much?

Are their points relative to the work involved and the value to the site overall?

To me the chartz and forum is what brings in users and thus, earns the most money. Granted this is pure speculation and I'm sure ioi has page views data to demonstrate where the most value is earned... I would think forums would be the best. idk..

Just thinking out loud here.

Banners require you to create them, box arts, release dates ect you just have to find on the net. Synopis can also be found on the net but sometimes need to be written by yourself.

Not only do you have to create the banner, you have to keep in mind it works well with the right hand side box obscuring the image.

I could be wrong but it just seems fishy.


There are two main reasons:-

- Lots, and I meant LOTS of games in the database are with no banners.
- Before gamrReview, 650x185 was the required banner size (which is smaller than the banners that are submitted today). After gamrReview was introduced, every banner in the database looked out of place (e.g. this). So all the banners had to be changed to the new required size, which is 650x250.

In other words, users in here add new banners, and replace the old, out of place banners.

In a few months from now you won't see the top users have as many points from database work as for June/July.
Banners, critic reviews and synopsis are coming in right now at an extremely high rate and filling most of the existing gaps very fast.
Critic reviews can only be added once.
Synopsis are only going to be replaced if the new one is substantially better, is fixing errors or add the missing source.
Banners are only going to be replaced if they are broken (from before the size format change)
or are of higher quality than the existing ones.
