I would be beyond shocked if they didn't, its essentially saying "no thanks" to free money...businesses just don't do that..

I'm sure it will make its way over to the wii eventually (either original game or the sequel) but are wii owners ready to spend that much for a game? Strong sales of guitar hero indicate they might but isn't rock band twice the price of gh?

Well we may have to wait. First of all, there are the supply constraints for the available versions. Second, the compatibility and legal issues between Activision and MTV would likely have to be resolved.
Yet if those get solved fast enough, we could likely see a Wii version by next summer, or next holiday if it takes a while.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Consider that if you already have GH3 for the Wii and an extra guitar, and if the guitars are compatible (they are on the 360 version), you could buy Rock Band with just the drums for about the same price as GH3 cost you originally. I would think people would certainly be willing to spend that much.
But even having said that, I don't accept your premise anyway. Wii owners are willing to spend money on entertainment if it's high quality entertainment.
The issue of Rockband coming to Wii isn't so much a matter of if/when, but how.
A major problem with the Wii is that writing to an SD card would be just about the most useless thing out there. Each new downloadable song (if Nintendo would allow it) is huge - anywhere from 30 to 60 Megabytes per song.
So would they neuter Rockband like the PS2 version, disallow online play, no profiles, and just provide the instruments and songs, or attempt to do the "full" version that the PS3/X360 offer, with online multiplayer and bands, rich DLC content, customizable characters and such.
IMO, I really don't think that Harmonix will do it until Nintendo can provide a better online atmosphere for such an ambitious title. The Wii could offer EA/Harmonix a killing if they could use DLC - but with the horrible lack of space that the internal card offers might sway Harmonix in the wrong direction.
More than likely, RockBand 2, or similar would be on the Wii - juding by the succuess of GH3, Harmonix, I am sure, wants it on the Wii platform....But they've said they want to ensure the game is really "next-gen"....Which the Wii currently might not be able to offer.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I myself plan on getting rock band when it comes to wii, but for a system that costs less then its competitors as well as games that come in at 17% (50 v. 60) less then their rivals will a game that costs over 170 dollars (more then half of the cost of the system) sell well? I'm not too sure, but my copy will count for it.

Entroper - the only issue about the cost of RockBand is the fact that (as far as I know), the perpherials are INSANELY expensive.
I've seen prices for the drum sets being quoted around the $60-$70 area. The Wii cannot give any special ability with the drum sets to offset the price, so assuming you buy the game at $50 + a $60 drum set, your still looking at something above the price of a Guitar Hero game. ...
Whereas you could/would pay about $50 more and get the guitar and Microphone with it. However, it would be neat to see if EA/Harmonix could somehow use the Wii microphone as an ad-hoc mic for the set, therefore reducing the price (or maybe not?)
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Rock Band is the same price as GHIII or there abouts if you get the guitar and game combo. EA should start offering that combo soon for 360 and PS3. Activision already sells the Wii GHIII guitar by itself. It is just a matter of time before these games become unbundled and if Rock Band can use the same guitar as GHIII it will cost even less than GHIII for those 1.1 million plus Wii GHIII owners. Also, as you know, Rock Band is on PS2.
