I would definitely fight them, and force them to make me a conduit =p

That would be exciting since it would mean our current understanding of physics is most likely wrong.
I have no doubt there were, are and will be other live forms in the universe, considering there are between 200 billion and 1 trillion stars on average per galaxy, and about 100 billion to 1 trillion galaxies in the observable universe.
However the distances are so vast the chances of an extraterrestrial intelligence visiting earth are virtually 0. Travel outside your own star system isn't very practical. Even if you could come close to the speed of light it still takes 5 years to the nearest star, 20 years to the nearest earth like planet, 28.000 years to the center of our own galaxy. At our current speeds it would take more in the order of a 100.000 years to send a probe to the nearest earth like planet.
Never mind finding a planet with intelligent life. We've only started announcing our presence since radio broadcasts started leaking out. Maybe powerful telescopes can pick up the faint artificial light from our cities, but even that hasn't been around for much longer then a 100 years, maybe reaching 0.00001% of the stars in our galaxy.
Anyway when they arrive they won't just come for a visit. They'll be ready to colonize after such a long risky journey.
