Well the guy picked LBP and VLR (cause he liked Danganronpa)

As for me, I'm considering getting the one I don't have yet; Demon Gaze. Operation Abyss looks good and playing a cheaper "spiritual predecessor" might be a good way to truly gauge my interest in it rather than getting hyped over trailers and screenshots.

I know I'm too late but your friend should try to play 999 before VLR. If he does the story in VLR will make absolutely no sense. I played VLR before 999 and at first I felt the game was bad since nothing really made sense but then I learned I should have played it after the first game.

I really like having my digimon army following me around, I just keep taking pics whenever I evolve/change digimon.
My current bodygaurds:

Excellent art direction.

What about the gameplay? What is it about?

Has naughty scenes  9.6/10

True, but, naughty scenes for naughty scenes, at this point I would wait for a sale on Monster Monpiece or Senran Kagura Shinobi Versus. At least they have got SOME gameplay...

Combat is turn based with 3 digimon on the battlefield. Each digimon can have up to six spells(newer spells can replace one of them except for main spell which can't be replaced). There are 3 digimon types (Virus, Data, Vaccine) and 8 elements (fire, wind, water, earth, grass, electric, holy and dark) all of which play a part in the weakness of the digimon. Virus strong against data, vacine strong against virus, data strong against vaccine plus the normal elemental weakness (water vs fire etc..). There are also other stuff like the battle memory, digi-farm, evolving and di-evolving the digimon to make them stronger. Honestly the game is very fun and addicting. I spent like 3 hours just running around and capturing/evolving my digimon.

Also, probbaly because I haven't watched anything digimon in like over 15 years(I only know like 5 digimon), the evolution aspect is exciting to me since you don't know how your digimon will look like till you evolve them(you can later on though) and because they look pretty to look at(The initial digimon are too cute ^^)

You've got me really excited to try this one, Digimon was by far one of my favourite anime of all times. Too bad I can't import or play japanese games so all I can do is to pray for a localization here !!!

No you dont need to really play the first game cause the game itself will make more sense the more you play the multiple routes in the game.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

But doesn't one of the big twists in the game tie into the first game?

What exactly do you mean? I never played 999, and everything made perfect sense to me.
