So I've never played any of the Atelier games, but Atelier Rorona Plus Looks interesting for the Vita. Is it a digital purchase only or was there a retail release? I can only find the PS3 version in stores, amazon etc.

Also.... what are the games about... can't seem to find a solid description online.

Digital only on Vita.

The whole series are very light JRPG's where you play as alchemists.  Synthesizing items is a large part of the gameplay, and there's also exploring locations to collection materials and fighting monsters in very simple turn-based combat.

Rorona Plus in particular is about the main character (Rorona) trying to save her Atelier (place where she synthesizes) from being closed down.

They're an acquired taste, but if you like them you'll have a great time.

Not a fan of the Rettousei anime, so this game is pretty meaningless for me...

But I know that some of you will be hyped:

Thanks for the info, I believe I read somewhere that Rorona plus is the first in the trilogy?

I will have to wait till its on sale to give it a go, too expensive for me for a game I may not enjoy.

Have to appreciate that they're at least putting some effort into it. Most licensed anime games don't bother with the full 3d world.

First in the Arland series
Atelier Rorona - Rorona is tasked in saving a Atelier passed down to her. Pretty much blackmailed and forced to save it.
Atelier Totori - A weak and fragile, yet very out spoken (despite her innocent look) girl Totori becomes a adventurer after learning Alchemy to find her mom who disappeared years ago.
Atelier Meruru - Well I can't really say yet, I'm only 5 hours in, I'd say it's about Meruru being a rebellious girl trying to make fun out of life, and pretty much is forced the job of helping develop the kingdom of Arls.

The Hungry Horde coming to Vita.

Sounds kinda cool to be honest.

Does seem like a game i'd enjoy, although I wouldnt play it everynight like Persona 4 but I will def keep an eye out for any sale or price cut etc.
