Ok so the PS Vita launched on December 17, 2011 in Japan and unfortunately it was off to a rocky start for the first couple of years. While things are finally looking up for Vita in Japan I think I have found a (terrible) reason as to why it took so long to fully take off.

Someone explain to me how this even happens, how many people were really still gaming on PSP at this time??

I've always thought that one (but just one) of the reasons of the Vita's slow start has been the internal competition with PSP. And here in Europe it still sells consistently...

Damn 2012-2013 had a lot of titles I wish they were on vita. Dangan Ronpa 2(though I'm happy with HD rerelease), Sol trigger, Digimon, Summon Night, Shinning Ark(Before I played it) etc.. and Damn Namco!! They just keep chugging titles; there are over 40 titles by Namco Bandai in that list

Finally my Natural Doctrine copy arrived ^^


if someone wants to see how it looks on vita. I thought it looked good,but I'm not a good judge since most of my played games are low/mid budget games lol


Only played the tutorial level so far, but so far I like it. Since this is getting localized, If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask someone else me

Loads.

Exact same thing is happening with PS3 vs. PS4 now.  And will continue to happen if there is a transition into next generation, I'd have thought.

It's a shame, but publishers care more about making money than pushing a console's hardware sales.  And so they should, really.

If anything, the Vita's slow climb to relevance only solidifies this.  It justifies that they can ignore a console for the first few years and only support it with multi-plats and ports, and it will eventually reach a level of decent sales.

 

As a side note, I wish stuff like Digimon; Shining Blade/Ark; Digimon; Yakuza; Tales of Heroes; Sword Art; 7th Dragon & Fate/Extra had come to Vita.  All stuff I've contemplated importing at various points, but would much rather have been importing for Vita.  And those titles would've really helped it in its first few years, too.

At least it's finally "here" now.  Although these kind of mid-range titles are still quite lacking from the system, aside from a few Tales ports and the new Digimon/SAO games.
