I have actually changed my purchasing habbits when it comes to Vita some time ago. I'm ignoring indie games and only buying retail titles. Indies may be cool, but that's not what I've bought my Vita for and not what I want to support. I've bought it for big AAA games and that's what I want from it. Now I want to get Batman and Spiderman, since these are the last big games released recently that I still haven't bought. I've bought 7 games the last 3 months and plan to continue focusing on them. I'm leaving indies for PS+ and discounts when they drop to around 2.5 Euro max. |
I appreciate where you're coming from, but when I look at games like Strangers Wrath (which is considered an "indie game") it delivers as much as I would have expected from any AAA Vita game. Great visuals, infact, it's actually the best FPS on Vita without Killzone in the title.
I think we need to get away from "indie" as a "genre". I understand you not wanting 2D Flash games on your Vita. But some of these "indie" games are as technologically competent as any of the major 3rd party releases. Then Ubisofts best output on Vita which isn't Assassin's Creed could just as easily have been indie games (Lumines, Rayman Origins/Legends) without the previously known IPs.
I dunno, I just think we need to celebrate good games, rather than worry about whether the profits go to some bedroom coder or to shareholders in a multi billion dollar corporation. Remember, Angry Birds: Star Wars was published by Activision >_<
Strangers Wrath was an exclusive 2nd party AAA game when it was released on xbox real1
So it's definitely the lack of technical prowess that puts you off indie games then? Just remember, if "indies" do well on Vita, they will eventually use more and more of the system's resources.
not me-i play everything.
just want to say:Stranger is 100% no indie title just like jet set radio isn't-it is wrong to call such games indie as they were expensive high quality products at time of release.noone would call ffx indie-same with those 2 games.
I am all for indie games, but not at these prices. I mean some games are 10-15$ on Vita, while they are 0.99-2.99 everywhere else. Fuck that shit. I can put up with a 50% increase or 100% since the userbase is small, but not 500%.

Hear hear. What a good post.
I do hope that indies move away from being 2D platformers soon, though. I mean sure, there are plenty of good ones, but there are so goddamn many of them. I'd rather they try different things, like Hotline Miami did.
(I'm also secretly hoping that indies start moving more and more towards being 3D, soon).
well, there is this spiderman-like game (i forgot the name) with that eergy powerhook.Very indie, very 3Dish
Speaking of indies, 12 minute Hyper Light drifter gameplay
Probably my most anticipated indie vita game, along side Dustforce, Shantae , Fez and maybe Teslagrad.
