On October 10, Sony will release a lighter and slimmer PlayStation Vita. The PCH-2000 model is 20% slimmer and 15% lighter than the original system. The front screen has also been changed to a high-definition liquid crystal display instead of the OLED screen in the first generation Vita. Sony says the screen is capable of displaying 16 million colors, making it comparable to the OLED display.   PlayStation Vita 2000 has a rounded design. Notice that the button layout has changed too with the start and select buttons underneath the right analog stick.

The new PlayStation Vita has longer battery life that lasts about one hour more. You can charge your system using a standard micro USB cable too. Sony also added 1GB of internal memory to Vita. A nice addition, but you will probably want a memory card if you plan on downloading Vita games.

Sony will have six colors prepped for launch white, lime green & white, light blue & white, khaki & black, pink & black, and black.

Looks a lot like the E1000 PSP Street model from the front. High Definition LCD, so they upped the resolution? I thought about it, it makes sense for movie viewing, youtube, etc. to view in native 720p resolution, not for games.

The resolution is the same.. 960x544p.. but Vita support video up to 1080p since a firmware update long ago...

You forgot to bold Tsukie academy kou... I'm glad the support of Ark System Works on vita.. 6 of 9 games are for Vita and 5 are exclusive...! JUST WOW! but is a shame that BB:ChronoPhantasma isn't yet announced for Vita..but i'm sure it will come some day.. may be next year...

On the conference, haven't watched the video but by the announcement I can tell it was a Tokyo Vita Game Show! and i can tell too why all these announcement were delayed.. most of these are appealling for japanese market.. but i hope most will be releasing next year on the west too... and i hope for sake of Vita sales on western markets that they  made these models and colors and memory cards available before Black Friday (i doubt, though is SCEA we're talking about -,-)

Vita TV indeed looks nice, but how they will emulate the touchscreen and rear touch? Some games, like Uncharted and Killzone simply use these hardware to basic things or to replace the missing R2/L2/R3/L3 combo that Vita TV will have on the DS3. But games like LittleBigPlanet Vita actually use the touchscreen to drag items, touch things and so on. They already said something about compatibility in those cases?

So, I've been thinking about Vita TV, and do you know what - I approve of it. For one reason alone: games.

Right now, Japan is where most Vita games are getting made. But a lot of them aren'tbeing localized, since presumably companies don't think they'll get a decent return.

If Vita TV comes out in the west, it'll be targeting a different market to Vita. Vita is a high-end handheld; Vita TV is a low-end console. I'd assume that will at least expand into a different market somewhat.

But in terms of Vita games, both consoles play the same games through the same cartridges. Suddenly, Vita's install-base increases loads. And then maybe we don't have to fight tooth and nail with every opportunity we get to get stuff like Tales of or Phantasy Star Online localized, because there's two different pools of people to sell to.

I also just realised - this is how we get a console version of PSO2 in the west :P

Maybe... just maybe... this will increase interest in localizing some late-in-PSP's-life PSP games, too, and releasing them for cheap on PSN.

Well, i don't think any try to get the Vita know will hurt the brand.. Actually for 99$ is a better alternative than OUYA on the lot of Android based microconsoles project that are beginning to release/announced..

About the late-PSP games translation.. I think the interest is rising...  at least XSeed,MonkeyPaw and NIS are still intetrested, and SONY seems to be hearing to customer in this regard..So I can be positive on this too...

The low-console stuff, could work actually, but I hope there is DualShock 4 support at future.. because that could cover the Touchscreen lack of DS3...

@Gehirnkrampf: Yeah is a re-release with a LOT of additions, is not a NEW game, but i think gameplay-wise is worth the money.. and probably will release cheaper than a standart PSVita game (30$ or less may be?).. but i doubt it will be a Paid DLC Update as you hope...

I wonder how a neutral faction would even work in Soul Sacrifice. "On odd days we sacrifice, and on even days we save. THOSE ARE THE RULES. THE RULES MUST BE OBEYED."

A question about Vita TV.

Will it be possible to stream the game and use the vita as controller?(than all vita games can be played)
I'm asking because i was always interessted in a vita-hdmi as it is sometimes more comfortable to play the game on big screen.
I did not see why this shouldn't be possible.

Makes sense.

I hope you are right.

Will it be possible to use the vita as controller with vita-tv?

I hope so. Let's wait and see.

Persona 5 on PS3, I won't need next gen!

SONy didn't showed anything about using Vita as controller for Vita-Tv so I doubt we'll see this happening.. a DualShock4 would make more sense...
