I just read Runa's review about jak and daxter collection and i must say... i dont think he realises the game is a cross buy with the PS3 version as he gives it a hideous score and tells us to go buy the PS3 version.

Cmon Runa... now im stating to think you are off to hate on all things Vita.

I dont want to register on gamreview so i had to comment here. :P

I find he just tends to swing wayyyy low reviewing things he doesn't like.  I disagreed with his scores of Hotline Miami & FF XIII-2, too.  Even if they weren't to his tastes; I feel they're not even close to 6.3 and 5.4 respectively.

I guess some of it comes from him using the full 10 point scale in a way that other reviewers don't, but still.  I haven't played Jak Collection yet, so I can't comment on whether the framerate is so bad that it makes the game a "don't even consider picking up" or not.

Interesting. I find it possible if that Monster hunter game is actually Monters Hunter 4G. So, a port of the 3DS version with extra content.

No idea what this story about the moon is. PSO2? Lets hope so. I think the Vita would profit from a bundle with PSO2 pre-installed in the memory card as it wouldnt drive up the price of the console. PSO2 is a great oportunity for the Vita, an untapped market of MMO's on the move and easy to control.

We'll see if it comes to happen.

the game is damn near broken.  My brother watched me play over my shoulder for 30 seconds before declaring "I don't know how in the world you're playing that.  I've never seen framerate that bad.  why the fuck are you playing that?"

To which I replied, "Review copy.  I have to play it and beat it."

He felt my pain.

But alas, I don't hate Jak and Daxter, but the PSVita version is a mess.  Also, I don't recall hearing that it's cross play.  I HAVE the Jak and Daxter collection on PS3, but It's certainly not cross buy.  if it was, then I'd have finished the review earlier.

As for the score, yes: I use the full 10 point scale. so a simply mediocre or drab game that has as many failings and passes like Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Dead space 3 get 5's, not the 7's that everyone else seems to think is for 'mediocre.'  As said in the critic, "You're here to tell people if a movie is good or great!", to which the critic replied, "Well what if I don't like a movie?"  He was told, "That's what 'Good' is for!"

So yes, expect more low scores from me.

Hell, you wanna know a game I absolutely adored but only wanted to give it a 7.0?  Mutant Mudds Deluxe.  I loved that game from beginning to end.  Fantastic level design, delightfully retro soundtrack, and a simple charm that was flat out undeniable, and I gave it a 7.  (Ended up I think with a 7.5 after edits.)  Why?  I think it's important to leave more room at the top for the truly outstanding games rather than giving everything an 8 and calling it a day.

And why would anyone thing I'm a hater?  I'm one of you!  I actually thought Assassin's Creed III: liberation was a great game, and last year was the year of the Vita to me.  2012 was an amazing year for the vita...not my fault 2013 isn't as good.  Soul Sacrifice was just bleh, Muramasa was a remake, Dragon's Crown is coming out on PS3 as well, and that leaves us with what?  Tearaway and Killzone?  I'm sure Killzone will be good, and Tearaway sounds pretty awesome, but that's not enough to inspire confidence.  Where's our original Final Fantasy?  where's our God of War?  where's our Grand Theft auto?  where's our inFamous?  Where's our Ratchet and Clank?  where's our everything?

The vita has shown that it had the chops to be worthwhile, thanks to its PS1, PSP, and PSM support, as well as cross buy and cross play, so people should be buying it, but unless it picks up the pace for quality, top-notch exclusives, I don't see it picking up out of this hole it's in.

Good point. I honestly don't expect 'any thing' from capcom for vita tbh...it's like the system ran over their dog or something lol. I mean vita doesn't seem to have much issues with selling software but Capcom and to some extent even SE seems to be staying well away from it.

The Vita version certainly chugs, but I think you were more insulted by it than most (and I'm frequently accused of being a frame rate whore). I actually really enjoyed playing through Jak and Daxter 1 (not tried the others yet) to call it unplayable is a gross exaggeration, there were people in this very thread who platinumed it in a day clearly showing it is perfectly playable. Though the lower frame rate definitely makes some sections more difficult than they should be (and than I think Naughty Dog intended them to be) it's certainly above 8fps. It actually runs about 20+fps and is a better frame rate than Grand Theft Auto 3 had on release.

I didn't actually notice the audio issue either that could well be something on the US card thats not present on the EU one though. I certainly think Vita Lounge's 9/10 was far too high, but I think 6-7/10 is somewhere near for the Vita port IMO.

At the end of the day, for your £20, you get some fantastic platformers and when you compare them to other portable platform games, you suddenly find you have some of the better 3D platform games available.

Mike's real 1-10 no whiney ranting scaled rating of truth - 6.5/10

Its definitly cross-buy in europe, i just double checked on my Vita. I am not sure about the US.

I understand that you feel the game is a bad port on the Vita, but it makes no sense to advise to buy the Ps3 version instead from my point of view cause you get it for free, at least if you live in europe. They dont compete with each other.

Hater is indeed a bit harsh, i take i back, but you seem really difficult to please. ^^

Keep in mind that the Vita is a handheld, not a home console. Just the fact you can play the game for free if you buy any of the versions should be reason enough to be pleased. If its not cross-buy in the US, wich i assume is where you are from, then i guess it makes some sense. Its difficult to judge these reviews as the US and European versions are always pretty much identical with european ones just adding more languages if the publishers want. Different digital policies can be the new "localisation" problems.

Anyways if you live in europe i dont see how this collection can be worth a 4, when you are getting it together with the PS3 version. It just allows you to continue to progress when you're not home, even if it might not be a perfect port. Also, im pretty sure that if the issues are that bad they will release a patch to ease it a bit.
