absolutely atrocious NPD for the vita...retailers will start to kill it now. Thanks sony...your friggin indies are doing a great job keeping the system going. Treat it as a bastard child of your family and the results will return the favor

Retailers will not kill it, if you havent noticed every single console numbers are down in recent times. One thing for sure is that it is selling better than the Wii U, which is not saying much, but if retailers didnt kill the Wii U, then they will not kill the Vita. I expect games to be announced at gamescon.

dude it's selling much worse than the wiiu in the US. Less than 16k for may :S

Yea, but Wii U is pretty much in the same position like that in Japan. I just hope neither hardware fails:/ I dont wanna see Nintendo have another monopoly in the handheld field. Vita is so amazing, if people just play it they would see that.

Problem is Sony isn't treating as they should. Their attitude towards it reflects in the sales too. SCEA specifically. SCEE on the other hand supports it relatively well so it does decently in EU. SCEJ is the same. Issue is SCEA. Two years running they botched the E3 when it comes to vita. I don't get it really..

Retagging.

I don't think Sony will kill Vita anytime soon. It sells so bad, but still with the high adoption rate (already 10 games per console in the US) it's bound to be profitable at the moment. Not saying it's making up for the R&D costs, but that money is already spent anyway and I believe at the moment Vita is slowly but surely bringing money. Not much, but it's always something. The console can be saved, but it all depends on the financial situation of Sony in the next 2 years and if they find the good will to save it. In Kaz we trust I guess...

Though I really don't get it why they still haven't ordered ND and SSM to create one Vita team each. Just look how great it worked with GG and the new Killzone.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I've honestly given up hope for Vita in NA a while ago.

It'll find at least a small audience in Europe like Sony products always do selling with FIFA and maybe a racing game or two. Japan will be home to niche stuff and - for the time being - PS3/PSV games. That should at least be enough to keep it afloat.

NA just aren't interested in a non-Nintendo handheld. They're barely interested in an actual Nintendo handheld, so it was never going to be good for Vita. Microsoft home console; Nintendo handheld; there just isn't room for Vita in the equation.

My only worry now is that Vita sales in NA are so dire that the localisations start drying up. I'm content enough with Sony ports + indie titles + Japanese localisations, but if they stop coming then that's only 2 reasons left to own a Vita and I'm not sure those two reasons are strong enough on their own. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Some not-that-great but still positive news, anyway:

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/18/rumor-new-danganronpa-game-teased-with-characters-from-the-two-psp-games/

Rumour is going round again about a new Danganronpa for Vita. They were kind of popular on PSP, so that certainly wouldn't be bad news for Japan.

No they didn't want a console without any big game on it i don't talk about quality wise but sale wise PSV son't have a yearly Call of Dutty it don't have MGS and Gran Turismo and  GTA to make people interest on it.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I'm still optimist on Vita, at least until TGS and Gamescon end... And even if the consoles die on the US market, I'll keep it to play PS4 on the go via streaming.. will be really a great feature...

Rigth now most of third parties are switching gears towards nexgen of homeconsoles, Vita was just unlucky to start slow, now have to wait and see if those are willing to investo money, times and efforts on making games worth of our money instead of free2play-casual-microspaid titles (I'm Looking at You CRAPcom, SONY and Square-Enix! Stop this bullshit!)

Anyways, the first half of this year is a really drag and slow for Vita, but for the second half have more titles coming on the US than for 3DS and not including PSn titles... the problem is that 3DS will have a brand new POKEMON, but still the line up for Vita is nothing less than GREAT till october...

I'm the same. I'm holding off for news at later conferences but I don't have a lot of confidence.
