Forums - Gaming - No rush for Xbox 720, PS4, says Take-Two CEO

CVG

Asked why he thinks the game market's in a depression at the moment and whether it's time for a new console, Zelnick told MCV's special E3 issue:

"If you exclude Wii - which one could argue is at least partially a different market than Xbox 360 and PS3 - the market is not in a depression.

"Moreover, we've seen and will continue to see huge growth in new forms of interactive entertainment. If you give consumers what they want - whether that's a social game on Facebook or a triple-A, multi-hour experience on a console - they'll come out for it.

"As for the technology itself," he added, "we still have plenty of room to push the limits of creativity in the current console generation."

Nintendo's to debut Wii 2 at E3 next week, while Microsoft's also been tipped to show off a new console at the show and Sony said last month that PS4 is in development.

Around the Network

yep they are right...only cause Nintendo is flopping this year we dont need new consoles...

Only Nintendo is due for a console, really. PS3 has shown that it still has life graphics wise (Killzone 3, Uncharted 3), and Xbox 360 community is still incredibly strong. PS3 just needs some new features. Sony has been putting out too many updates for security rather than give us new features. The last big one was online saves.

Wii online was faltering, game lineup was suffering, and overall creativity in the games had steadily dropped.

I always get a smile when I hear the next Xbox won't come for a good while.

Late 2013 at absolute most. No-one's letting Nintendo sit unopposed that long
