I don't see the 3DS selling as much as the GBA given the direction of the handheld, let alone the DS. I think GBA sold like 81.75 million so less than that is my prediction. 55 million may be low but I really have no idea how low the final figure is going to be to be honest. But 3DS in 2011 and beyond doesn't scream "mass appeal" to me in the way that the GBA did in 2001-2005 (2005 being the year that DS started to overtake GBA on a consistent basis I believe, if not 2006). Just because the masses have fellated Avatar en masse like a reverse bukkake doesn`t mean they are going to embrace glasses-free 3D portable on a tiny 3.5" screen. And while some may think this 3D thing is a blue ocean, keep in mind that HTC and other Android smartphone developers are going to be cashing in on the gimmick soon. HTC Evo 3D is coming out later this year. Hopefully the 3D movie fad will die off too (a lot of people are already sick of it and are sick of going to the movies and Hollywood in general right now. But crap like Thor can still sell well at the box office I'm afraid) and 3DTVs will never catch on. Kill this gimmick off with fire.
