Forums - Sales - PS3 may never catchup to the 360

Ok, so I worded the damn title wrong, please get over it people. I really don't care if the 360 falls behind, its already hurt the Playstation brand soo much that these 4 big exclusives everybody keeps talking about (MGS4 FF13 whatever) are starting to look old. One of the Successful things I feel Microsoft has done this generation is proving that new IP can sell. Sure games like Halo sell systems, but guess what GOW is a new franchise and has sold more than any other games on the PS3, and its never been packed in any box. There is not one new franchise on the PS3 that has been that successful. Konami themselves have stated that MGS4 needs to sell a million first day and that probably has to do with the fact that they don't want to be embarrassed by other games of the same caliper. Don't be surprised if you hear bout a 360 version, and yes Sony has lost a lot of exclusives to the 360.

This thread is pointless and full of fail, I hope you're happy with your creation Passenger57, you MS fanbot.

Thank you for putting down my thoughts about this threads. *Leaves thread*

?  So you posted this to prove what?? Did you read the thread?

It's just a matter of time before the PS3 passes by the 360. The 360 is already losing steam and the PS3 is gaining ground. Call the PS3 a failure because you happen to think that because there have been a few models out already to replace original launch equipment. The PS2 was very much the same way with releasing updated PS2's at a frequent rate. The reason they do that is because they find cost savings by shrinking down parts and components, they can remove some things that doesn't affect gaming with PS3 games.

It just seems like it's much more drastic because Sony has HD's that are in these consoles now and that can be a good way to market the system. The ps2 had what? 12 different versions in it's life cycle? Or it may have been more, but nobody complained and stated that "The PS2 is dying and nobody is buying it!!" like they are for the PS3.

Doesnt look like it my friend. Besides most of your comments do show a high support and preference to the 360 with emotional attachment. I think you do care if the 360 falls behind, but right now youre very certain it won't happen.

People talked alot about Halo 3 and that never got old, strangely enough. Same thing applies to MGS4 and/or FFXIII in your example.

Your writing clearly shows that youre not following whats happening on the PS3 front. Resistance: fall of man & Motorstorm sold more than 2 million copies officially on vgchartz, if thats not succesfull then you have a false concept of what successfull means. Both games are getting sequels aswell, and deservably so people are looking forward to them.

Dont worry about MGS4 my friend, selling 1 million day is quite likely. If Im correct the exclusives that Sony has lost are Devil May Cry 4, Virtua Fighter 5 & Gundam Dynasty Warriors. And those are the only ones that really count, the 'many' exclusives are just your imagination making hallucinations my friend. Dont' worry I think Sony is more than aware of how crucial 3rd party has become now.

Plus MGS4 coming to the 360 is as likely as Ninja Gaiden 2 coming to the PS3.

Prove to me that the 360 is loosing steam. I hear this over and over again, the point of this thread was to say that during the busy season is when slow selling systems like the PS3 gain ground. During the slow season is when its important to gain ground especially when your 7 million units behind. If and that a BIG if ps3 sells hundreds of thousands more than the 360 during the slow season than I believe that the 360 is loosing steam. Right now all I see is what I've seen since the beginning of ps3 release, steady flow of 360 sales and holiday busy season/price drop ps3 sales boost.

I could be wrong but I see little evidence that the XBox 360 is losing steam in comparison to the PS3 ... On a worldwide scale the XBox 360 slightly outsells the PS3, and outside of Japan the XBox 360 outsells the PS3 by a fairly wide margin; this has not changed since the PS3 launched.

In order for the XBox 360 to be losing steam you would expect it to lose ground to the PS3, and for the "PS3 outselling the XBox 360" to be " just a matter of time" you'd first need the PS3 to ... I don't know ... outsell the XBox 360!

ANY new IP can sell if you market like MS does >_>; if your going to give any credit at all to Microsoft, give it to their advertisement department. And it's not like the PS3 is just "losing all it'z exklusuvs!" Everyone here knows making "next gen" games on the high def consoles just costs more >_>; I mean hell didn't the PS3 get it's own version of Ninja Gaiden? Oh wait, wasn't that last gen's reason for owning an Xbox? Don't be so blinded by bias lol, each console still has plenty of exclusives, and although you may not have liked Sony's new I.P.'s MANY ps3 owners did.

Even now theres so many talks of the next installments of Mass Effect going to the PS3. Personally I don't care one way or another if it does, but don't go around saying that only Sony is losing them >_> I mean seriously wasn't 80% of all software sold last gen sold on the PS2? Did you WANT them to maintain that again? Just be happy your 360 is getting them, no need to put down another console for sharing ;)

I think MGS4 will do well when it's released, but if it took most of a year for Motorstorm and over a year for Resistance to sell 2 million each, how will MGS4 sell 1 million copies in 1 day?  Seems unlikely.

anyone who thinks that the battle is already over must be crazy

on the contrary, the battle has just begun

No one is required to prove anything. Sounds more like its just that you can't bare to hear those kinds of opinions.

Yeah, we're talking about the states. The PS3 is indeed limping in there, it seems to me like the main region where people are willing to pull the plug on the PS3 and call it waste of time.

I find it pretty interesting that just because the 360 is dominating the US makes it already a lost cause everywhere else in the world. Like Japan, where the 360 is 1 million consoles behind the PS3, or in Europe where the margin has gone down a close gap of almost 1,5 consoles in between the PS3 and 360.

What I believe is that youre wrong judging the PS3's chance of surviving based on its status in the american homeland when in the other markets its making a good battle to maintain its presence with a optimistic forecast of actually succeeding.
