What the topic says.

I find it hard to believe the regular pad to be a 3DS. The console then would be above $ 500 and no one expects Nintendo to do that. And of course, that would go against the "only streaming" rumor as each handheld would be doing their own calculation.

But as the rumor of Cafe pads having cameras... well, I just imagined it would be terrific to be able to just use your 3DS as a controller. Each of your friends could hoop in with their very own consoles and Nintendo would own the world.

Your thoughts.

Personally, I'm really starting to believe that the Project Cafe rumours are being driven by someone who is having fun with the videogame media ...

Would be cool if optional and you had some 3DSs around, not cool if required for something

And what about the second analog stick?

A controller for that price? No way in h$ll.

I don't know what cafe is. But i know what Nintendo is: They sell to the mainstream and so at a mainstream price.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

What about using the touch screen as one?

I meant what you say: optional, not required.

I just realized/remembered that I hardly ever (more like never) use the second analog stick for anything

Seeing as how I'm buying a 3DS either way, using it a controller would be pretty cool :)

Meh. Don't think so. I'm sure there'll be some form of connectivity between the 2 devices, but there's NO WAY Nintendo would make 3DS the primary controller for their next console. Price alone would put off tons of people.

Well, umm, yeah. So, anyway!

What I mean is that IF the 3DS can be used as a controller, it would be quite different to to standard controllers ( would assume). More limited.

So that would mean it would be quite hard to make games especially suited to be played with the handheld, as opposed to using the regular controllers (whatever they may turn out to be). Meaning there wouldn't be much of a reason for devs to put extra time and effort into developing ways to use 3DS as a controller. I think. What would the benefits of using 3DS  be? If the regular controllers have touchscreens anyway (as rumoured), and superior motion sensing capabilities, a likely more comfortable grip, rumble, pointer features and whatnot? Seems like using 3DS as a controller would be more of a bother than it's worth. Of course, I know nothing, and could very well be wrong. We'll see in about 18 days I guess!
