Forums - Microsoft - EA ripping us off one more time

OP, would you like some cheese with that whine?

Around the Network

Meh, I'm personally excited about the comic book for 360.  I loved Mass Effect 2, but I played it without playing the 1st game.  I really wanted to replay ME2, now I can do it using choices made from ME1.  I am not motivated enough to actually try to spend 20-25 hours trying to beat the 1st ME and then replay ME2 for another 20 hours as well.  I don't have that kind of time.  So, this comic book is a good thing for some of us.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

Just because you think it's a rip-off doesn't mean it is.  It's up to the individual to decide if it's worth the money.  To me it isn't since I have Mass Effect 1 but to others they will see the value in it and buy it.  This effects you in no way.

I would get your argument if it was something built into the game and you had to pay extra to unlock it but this is just a bonus.  That doesn't mean it upsets me when Capcom makes you pay to unlock multi-player but I would get the argument.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised asking on this board ignoring a clear ripoff situation when their favorite console doesn't get a game until a year later. Instead all I get is "Waah! we didn't get our Mass Effect 2 until a year after you! Waah!" and more proof that I need to find another forum to frequent because unless it involves Sony or the PS3 on this website, nobody gives a flying crap.

EDIT: I'd like a mod to lock this ASAP. I'm done with this thread.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Perhaps I am wrong, but the comic while covering the original Mass Effect probably doesn't cover the expansions for the original game. Which do impact the second game, and I will go no further. There are some minor spoilers. So the PS3 user may get a free comic. They are still not going to get the definitive experience. So it is a lot of bitching about nothing.

Either you have the original game with the expansions in which case the comic would be a downgrade, or you have the original game without the expansions in which case you should purchase the expansions to get more content out of the second game. While you are at that some solid advice get the expansions for the second game. Two of the expansions are very relevant to the third game. One other expansion gives you a carry over choice into the next game. The other two expansions do not offer much, but I am sure the third game will allude to them at some point.

Why complain about a five dollar comic when you are going to need to buy thirty dollars worth of expansions for the third installment of the series to get the full effect.

SPOILER,For those who do not intend to get the expansions.

Mass Effect 1.

Bring Down the Sky is alluded to via extranet, and a certain poisoning event has a lot to do with what happened. Plus if you saved the hostages you would know that the terrorist is still on the loose. I am crossing my fingers that I get the chance to blow his head off in the third game. You also get a mail if you saved the hostages.

Mass Effect 2.

Kasumi Stolen Memory allows you to have the new character save the data. Cross your fingers for a tie in in the third game. Not sure if deleting the data will give you a alternate quest. Anyway the new character should create a tie in for the third game.

Lair of the Shadow Broker sees Liara Tsoni overthrow the Shadow Broker, and take his place. That is really not going to make sense to people in the third game. Not to mention another named character.

Arrival sees Shephard blowing up a star system, blocking a Reaper arrival, and Killing a shitload of Batarians. That not having a big impact in the third game is unthinkable.

Look at my game collection in my profile and you'll see witch console I prefer.  You're simply whining because everyone doesn't agree with you.  Maybe, just maybe, folks disagree with you in principle and not based on console choice.  It's an optional add-on that has no value to people with Mass Effect 1 and enables you to make decisions from the first game if  you don't own it and isn't that costly.

You're over-reacting and people called you out on it.  It has nothing to do with fanboy wars.

Except for special circumstances, Microsoft basically forces companies to charge for their DLC. This way, certain companies won't give out free DLC making other companies, who's business models include charging for DLC, look bad.

I dunno how many of you are aware, but this week EA and BioWare released the formerly PS3 exclusive interactive comic for Mass Effect 2 that allows you to make Mass Effect 1 decisions without even playing the game. Of course, did we get this in a free update? Of course not! It's up on the marketplace right now for 320 Microsoft Points ($4)! Are you guys freaking kidding me? 4 bucks for a little thing at the beginning of the game that I'll only use if I don't wanna play Mass Effect 1 again? Sounds like a deal to me!

Of course, I'll bet someone will come into this thread and tell me "if you don't want it, you don't have to buy it!" That's great, but it's a ripoff even if I did want it. Why should we pay for something that others got for free? Am I the only one grossly offended by this? I'd rather buy horse armor than waste my money on this!

HAHA! sorry I just can't help but to see the irony in this statement. XBL anyone

Wait, I'm supposed to feel bad for you when you've had more than 3 years to buy a platform with this game on it? Forget all the other stuff you said which sounds like garbage I'd hear from EA's PR department, telling me to get over this while you can't get over Mass Effect 1 not being on the PS3 is a barrel of laughs.

Like no one here is feeling bad for you for being ticked off.

Thread not locked yet.  Maybe they don't care about your whining either.
