Its their home country and they love Playstation but even in peak holiday times, they are only pushing 55k a week. Whats going on?? And no excuses like "they dont like home consoles anymore", look at the Wii sales going through the roof!!

55k isn't very lousy. The Wii was doing worse than that just a month ago or so.
It seems Japan has discovered, like America, that Nintendo is the way to go this generation. That's all, really.

People are acting like the PS3 is the size of piano made for a concert. OMG it wont fit in the house!!

I thought nintendo sales were just through the roof? Because PSP (like ps3) is also at the same-ish place it was last week, right?

you'd be surprised how much a consoles size affects sales in japan. the ps3's bulkyness most likely, is negatively affecting sales. still, thats not much of an excuse.
The Japanese - especially in the city - have much smaller houses I believe. The size of the PS3 could actually be affecting sales.
But in any case the PS3 isn't doing lousy in Japan, its doing decently but merely not on the same level as the Wii.
